2013 Year End Review

It is hard to believe, but the end of 2013 has come. At Bear Valley, we have had an outstanding year and are even more excited about the prospects for next year and the future to come. This year has truly been wonderful in the history of the Bear Valley Extension Program and we want to share some of the excitement with you - our friends, partners, and supporters.

There are now 17 extensions, in 13 different countries around the world, with 254 full-time, preacher training students! This year has also witnessed 122 men graduate with their degree or certificate from Bear Valley. Just think of all the potential in those men and their families in the years to come, as the vast majority of them are serving in fertile parts of the world. This is truly exciting!

But at Bear Valley, we know that we aren’t doing this alone. We depend on partners and supporters to help us train preachers around the world. In addition to our all-important supporters, 78 different local teachers taught in Bear Valley extensions this year. In addition to those local men, another 57 men have made the journey to an extension to teach a “short course” to our students. This truly is a team effort at every level.

In addition to teaching these men how to preach and live, we want to instill in them a passion for soul-winning. This is borne out in the many studies, campaigns, and gospel meetings that they are involved in throughout the year. As a result of these efforts, we know of at least 990 baptisms, 60 new congregations, 5 congregations restored, 292 campaigns and gospel meetings, 4 lectureships, 4 youth conferences and camps, 1068 bible studies, and the conversion of at least 8 denominational preachers. To God be the glory!

This has truly been a remarkable year, but we are not resting on our laurels as we look to an exciting future. There are already many new students set to enter the program next year and a new extension in a country where it is needed is a very real possibility. 2014 promises to be the most exciting year yet.

At Bear Valley, we thank all those who support us and partner with us to carry out the mandate of 2 Timothy 2:2. What you are doing is making a difference and we literally could not do it without you. Thank you for the confidence you have placed in us and we look forward to continuing to serve together as long as the Lord allows.

Growing The Kingdom One At A Time...

The week ahead ushers in a new year for our world. The end of one year and the beginning of another brings anticipation of what God will do to grow His kingdom here on earth. We are thankful for the opportunity to participate in what God is doing in each location where we partner with the greatest men and women on earth to provide training for those who are faithful, so that they may teach others also (2 Tim. 2:2).

Reflecting on the past year indicates the wonderful ways God has been involved in supplying the growth, as the seed was planted and watered (1 Co. 3:6). The year end report for each school, and the entire program, will be ready to share with everyone next week; what a great way to begin the new year. A few of those reports are featured this week, but the big picture is forthcoming.

We ask for your continued prayers as we enter a new year of Extension Training. A few great things are planned for the program in 2014 and we hope you will continue to share in the work our God is doing in each location and the locations where schools will be starting.

New students arrive this week in Denver to begin the first part of their journey through the Bible Institute. Classes officially begin on January 6. They would appreciate your prayers also.

Now on to the other reports...

A Legacy That Outlives Us All...

Greetings Fellow Servants,

We are humbled by God’s mercy and generosity. We know without Him nothing “good” is possible. We are humbled by your love, prayers and support of this mission effort in Tanzania. We are humbled to be a part of such an amazing team of co-workers who give sacrificially for the glory of God and to the salvation of many souls. The Tanzania 2000 Mission Team is building a legacy, a legacy of church planting and growth that will out live us all.

Recently we gathered some information that we believe highlights the good being done and the potential for even greater efforts. We hope that in seeing His mighty hand at work, through your prayers and support, many souls are being saved for eternity.

•Number of Andrew Connally School of Preaching graduates: 134 (undergraduates), another 20 from the Masters program.

•We hope to have an intake in Feb. 2014 of 30 new students.

The following are results for the year 2013 from 14 of our graduates
The following combined numbers are from 14 of our graduates (representing about 10% of graduates), representing a small part of the greater good being done.

•Campaigns - 57

•Baptisms - 278

•New congregations established - 47

•Active Christians - 881

•New born Christians from Christian families - 28

Additional 2013 Highlights from the ACSOP & Tanzania 2000 Mission Team
•Three Safari for Souls campaigns resulting in 84 new converts.

•The annual Tanzania Leadership Conference hosted around 140 participants from over 56 different congregations, and from 7 different nations.

•At this year’s Tanzania Christian Camp we had between 80-90 young boys and girls from many different congregations, with17 souls obeying the Gospel.

•At our annual Future Preacher’s Training Camp this week, we had 15 young men, one obeying the Gospel.

We welcomed our new missionaries: Nathan & Jessica McVeigh and Daniel & Tiffany Gaines (along with their three children) to the TZ200/ACSOP team.

Another great year to be sure, but we firmly believe 2014 has even better things in store for God’s Kingdom’s work here in East Africa. We plead for your continued prayers, support and participation as we work together to “Seek and Save” the lost of this world.

A very blessed New Year to you all! We love and admire each of you for your work’s sake and for your sacrifice, making the work of God possible.

In Him,
Cy, Stephanie & Granny

2013 Ends And A New Era Begins...

Dear Brethren Christ,

Greetings to you in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ our Savior. By the grace and mercy of God, and your kind love, we are blessed to do the marvelous work of the Lord. We thank you brethren for your kind prayers and esteemed encouragements through which we successfully completed the year 2013 and we are ready to enter into the year 2014. We appreciate the brethren at Lake Houston for their support, also the brethren at Strickland Church of Christ for overseeing the work, and especially our special thanks to the elders of Bear Valley who blessed us with the school program.

Greatest Need:
During his visit in the month of October, brother Denton Landon asked what is the greatest need. We said, “Bibles.” Brother Denton, with the extra money he had, bought 40 Bibles at $3.00 each. We are thankful to him for helping us with the Bibles. These Bibles have been distributed among our students and preachers. We have a mission to bless all the new converts with a new Bible, also these are great tools of evangelism. In a religious country like India, there are several who revere the Bible as a Holy Book. They want to have a copy of it and, certainly, when we approach such families it opens the door for a preacher to bring them to the Lord.

Brother Srinu who was a graduate of first batch lives in Vaddadhi, Visakhapatnam District. He received some of the Bibles and distributed them to the new converts in their congregation.

New Students – New Era:
Jesus Christ in His final commission commanded us to go preach to all the nations. Our school objective is to train young faithful men who shall be able to teach others. Thankfully enough, the mission of our school is to reach out. The addition of 5 students from the tribal area in the border line of the state of Andhra Pradesh and state of Orissa has opened up of a new window for us to extend our mission efforts in that area. How blessed we are to reach that area with their men, truly our mission is being full filled by this. These students are diligent in learning the Word and very enthusiastic to establish congregations in their communities. Imagine them going back to their home villages and working as a team to preach Christ to the natives who are in the remote world (mountains). We pray that their desire would come true and many souls will be saved, may they bring glory and honor to our Lord.

Local congregation helping the school:
We are delighted to share with you all the very exciting news, which is a local congregation providing a little something for the students each week. We have some students who spend their Sundays with the local congregation. Now the local congregation at Samatha Nagar regularly has a little over 30 members. They began to help buying some fruit and snacks to the students from their weekly contribution.

We are very happy to share with you the recent mission work that these small groups of Christians do in the area where our preacher training school is, that is every Friday the women are doing door knocking, in last couple of weeks they were successful in getting 6 contacts. Hopefully, they will start coming to the Church services. Ladies also have a regular class every Friday evening. We are delighted to see the congregation growing.

Annual Report (2013):
Here is the result of our students’ (current & previous) efforts in the mission field in the Visakhapatnam area in the year 2013.

Number of people baptized: 96

Number of Bible studies conducted: 1068

New congregations established: 8

Christians restored: 32

Gospel meetings conducted: 176

Denominational preachers converted: 8

How many Gospel campaigns conducted: 6

Preachers’ fellowship meetings conducted: 8

Number of undergraduates finished their courses: 13

Number of graduates in the Master’s class finished their course: 9

Number of current undergraduate Students: 15

Number of current Master’s class Students: 9

So far through our Bible College we have sent 39 students, presented 9 Master Class students, 15 regular students. As a whole, 63 preachers are in the mission field laboring in the Lord’s vineyard.

If it is the Lord’s will, we shall start a parallel class from April with another 10-15 students. Kindly pray that our school work would be a great blessing to the people of India. Right now we are coming across several people who are interested to join in the school. We hope this new parallel batch would help us to produce 15 preachers every year.

Thank you all brethren, especially brother Bob Turner who is doing a great job in directing the BVBID Extension Schools. We do thank the faculty, brother Garry Fallis and Denton Landon. Our special thanks to brother Jerry Bates and his wife Paul for being representatives of our school. We must not forget our gratitude to brother Steve Wiseman who is instrumental in keeping up the very good relationship with the brethren  at Lake Houston. May God continue to bless you and your families as you are striving to work for His cause.

Our new batch of students received Telugu literature about the Parables in the Bible, written by brother Louis Rushmore.

Our graduate, Srinu, distributed Bibles to the new converts.

One of our students was recently baptized before they were enrolled in the school. We are so thankful all the students of the present batch of students are members of the Church.

The Master’s class of students received WVBS DVDs.

John Dean was able to preach at a gospel meeting held by brother Vamsee Bhushanam, who lives in a place called Chirala. He is doing a great job in teaching in the school at Visakhapatnam as well as at his local congregation. He has a great zeal for the Lord. He travels a good bit to get to school and we commend his interest to teach in the school; certainly he is playing a vital role in producing the preachers from our schools. May our efforts equip the young evangelists to expand the Kingdom of God.

We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.

In Christ

Three Rules For Missionaries...

Dear loved ones,

First and foremost, I want to wish you all a happy and safe holiday season! I pray that you continue to live a successful Christian life honoring our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! For the month of November and December I am honored to express my thoughts concerning the work of Christ here in Cambodia. A few months back, I wrote a short note on Facebook entitled "3 Rules for Missionaries in a Third World Country to Live By..."

Rule #1
Missionaries must not drive a Lexus, Mercedes, Range Rover or any other luxurious vehicles of the sort. You've given up those things when you left America.

Rule #2
Missionaries must not own any land or buildings. Of all people, you know that we don’t have ownership of anything in this world, why tempt yourself and risk putting His work in jeopardy?

Rule #3
After 5 years of your ministry, missionaries must not be in full control of everything. You must learn to trust your work and see the growth of your fruit!

I want to focus on Rule #3 because this is my 6th year as a missionary in the land of Cambodia.  Most of you probably know that I've spent the past month or so away from Cambodia competing in the SEA games in Myanmar in the sport of Basketball (which I love very much). It was an honor to represent Cambodia and I thank God for blessing me with this once in a lifetime opportunity! I had a wonderful experience. Not only did I have a chance to compete in the sport that I love on a high level, but more importantly, I was able to see the growth of my fruit!

When I was away, Darat, Piseth, Chann, my wife Chakriya, Hout, Ravy, Saran, and the rest of the local leaders stepped up and took care of everything. It was as if I hadn’t left! I realize that all my hard work in building trustworthy people to lead and not be dependent upon the missionary was a success! The school ran normally and the children's home went smoothly as well. I am wondering if God is telling me that my work here is nearly complete?

I love the work that I am doing here and believe that we still have a long ways to go before we have elders and be self supportive, but at the same time, I see that we are definitely taking steps in the right direction! This is an exciting time and what a way to end the year! I look forward to the 2014 year and see how much more we grow as a church and as a people of God individually! Please keep us in your prayers and keep supporting this wonderful work.

Expansion Construction In Cameroon...

Dearest in Christ,

It is my pleasure to wish you all over there compliments of the season. It is good this way and we continue to see the graciousness of God daily over the work we do.

Thank you all for your prayers rendered for me while I made the trip to Nigeria.

I am back safe and sound. I brought 33 cartons of books and hymns, along with 2 cartons of tracts. The tracts will not last long because we are already distributing it now.

Construction on the extension of the Wotutu hall and the CBIW dorms continues to move forward. We will start decking soon before we continue raising the blocks. It is moving slowly but surely and I am happy that we are accomplishing things bit by bit.

God bless you

Elangwe and family

Fifteen More Power Reasons...

Greetings Fellow Servants;

It is with mixed emotions we write to you this week. We rejoice with the Angels in Heaven for the new soul added to the Kingdom this week during the Future Preacher’s Training Camp. We rejoice in the knowledge we are on a journey to our Heavenly home. We rejoice in knowing we partner with faithful brothers and sisters in Christ in the greatest vocation known to mankind. On the other hand, we are saddened by the fact that tens of thousands of souls die every day without the salvation of Jesus.

This is a time of the year when many pause to reflect on the past and resolve to improve in the year to come. This is a time of the year many remember Christ and what He means in their lives and to the world. Yet, many continue to live IN the world, just as the world lives, without a second thought. As we reflect on the amazing grace given to us by God through His Son, let each of us resolve to do better in the year to come, if the Lord blesses us with another year.

Next week's Short Report will highlight what the Lord has done through His Tanzania 2000 mission effort here in East Africa this year. One such “highlight” was this past weeks 8th annual “Future Preacher’s Training Camp.” The “highlight” of the camp was most definitely when Jackson, a son of Naomi Hango (Moshi Christian lady), was baptized. He along with most of the 15 FPTC participants, also attended the Tanzania Christian Camp the week before where 17 souls were added to the Church of our Lord. John Rice and his family also held a camp in Dar last week, 15 souls obeyed God’s Word.

Christopher Mwakabanje has been directing this FPTC camp, with the help of several other Tanzanian Evangelist like, Desdery Massawe, David Bayi, Gasper Julius, Michael Losotwa, and others. It is such a blessing to see the local evangelists “take over” the leadership roles in the various aspects of this mission effort. A very special “Thank You” to Roger Shepherd for bringing this camp to TZ eight years ago.

With humble hearts of gratitude we say, “Thank you all for a job well done”. Thank you to all our friends and supporters. Without you the thousands of saved souls here in East Africa may very well still be wandering in darkness, lost and without hope. The good being done in the Church is due to the Power of God, His Word and the Great Team of Supporters and Workers.

We wish you all a very Happy Holiday Season. Our hope and our prayer is that the Lord blesses you with good health, a great time with family and friends and if He wills, a better New Year in His service.

We truly do love and admire each of you for your prayers and support.

In Him,
Cy, Stephanie & Granny

Nearing The End Of 2013...

The week ahead hosts one of the biggest holidays of the year, perhaps because it is more international in nature than others. The holiday is one where the focus is family oriented. For many, the time is centered around the birth of Jesus. For others, it is a time when gifts are exchanged, a meal is shared, and the fellowship of being together enjoyed. Regardless of how we  approach this time of year, it does afford us an opportunity to slow down for a few moments and reflect on the blessings provided by God.

This time also brings us nearer to the end of 2013. The speed at which time is flying by, it will not be surprising to blink and see us staring at the same situation a year from now. Looking at 2013 in the rearview mirror brings joy by considering the ways God has blessed the preaching of the gospel throughout the various locations where we are privileged to share in the work of extension training.

We are looking forward to sharing information about 2013 with all of you. A few of the totals are still coming in, but the preliminary results are exciting. The number of students who continue to be trained, the impact of graduates and the outreach of current students is growing the kingdom of our Lord in powerful ways.

Before heading into the reports for the week, we want to express our appreciation to each of you for all you do for the work of training preachers. From all the staff of the Bear Valley Bible Institute of Denver and the Extension Training program, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Now on to the other reports...

Tanzania Christian Camp News...

December 16 report

APOLOGY AND EXCUSE: Please accept our apologies for not sending a report last week. An acquaintance came by after lunch last Sunday and stayed ...for FOUR hours.

THE FIRST ONE IS A DOOSIE: We are very thankful that Ben Thompson and the Rice Family (John, Denise and John-Tyler) came to conduct Tanzania Christian Camp. Not only was this trip to Tanzania the first one for Denise and John-Tyler, but it was Denise's first time to fly. They were re-routed due to a problem with the first plane (upon take-off, a problem was realized and they quickly landed). Barely squeezed onto the next flight and getting on at the last minute, they were forced to hold their carry-on luggage in their laps for the eight hour flight (no space was available in the over-head compartments). They literally "hit the ground running" in order to catch a couple of connecting flights. One of their layovers was spent in a cold basement of the airport in Dar Es Salaam with metal benches to sit/lay on without any food or water...for 7 hours. Then, they arrived without a single piece of their luggage (it arrived four days later). Can you imagine all of this happening on someone's first flight? Although Denise hasn't complained, we imagine her kissing the ground when she lands safely in the United States! Tanzania Christian Camp ended on Friday. However, the Rice Family will leave at 5 am tomorrow to travel ten hours on a bus to conduct another camp in Dar Es Salaam. Pray for their safe travel and measure of comfort. :)

TANZANIA CHRISTIAN CAMP (TCC): Eighty-four campers, plus the Tanzanian and American staff of directors, counselors and cooks enjoyed a great week of Bible study, singing, entertainment, crafts and soccer games.  The best news is that 16 young people decided to put on Christ in baptism!  A man and his mother (who own a local restaurant) attended services at TCC one evening at Jimmy's invitation.

"A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE" For the past 2 years, our master closet has been leaking after a rain. Each time we notified him, our nice landlord (who lives away) would send someone to repair the roof. Problem was that the repairman never once (to our knowledge) repaired it correctly. Still a puddle of water was on the floor after each rain. Finally, when we thought the ceiling would fall in, we asked him to send a different repairman. A couple of men came out and, after working  two days (a half day each), we had a new ceiling, a repaired roof and could put everything back into the closet.

THERE IS A SEASON FOR EVERYTHING.  We often think of this verse in Africa, especially when it comes to insects. Previously, crickets were everywhere in the house (in shoes, behind the couch, in the hamper etc). Now, Nairobi flies (the pupae) are everywhere mainly due to the heavy rains that fall in December. These tiny orange/red and black striped critters can really "pack a punch,” if they spray you. Our reading on the internet says they neither sting nor bite...but they can release a potent toxin that is highly irritating to the skin (more potent than cobra venom). The mark left by them resembles a burn (can be little or big). Probably no one here has escaped their fury. Recently Lindsey was "burned' in 3 different places on her lower legs (the Nairobi flies were probably in her boots).

GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT...AND WAIT.... We rejoice with the Gaines family who spent the first night in their house last night and are driving their own car (arrived Thursday night). Now, the final "big" thing to wait on is their container with furniture and belongings. If living overseas doesn't teach you patience, then nothing ever will!

THE GOOD AND THE BAD: For the past several months, the mosquito net factory has been buying up the land around the ACSOP. The Kisongo church building is situated at the back of the property. This isn't an ideal place for it, but is serving as a temporary solution until the court case is resolved concerning the original land purchased. (Long story short, the person who sold the original property did not actually own the property...another family member did. The first guy "took the money and ran." Last word was that it didn't appear that the court case would be resolved in the churches' favor). Back to the subject, the mosquito net factory has put up fences and barriers making it impossible to get to the church building from the paved road. It's not such a problem, unless it rains (like every day this past week) because we can drive "over the hills and through the woods" on the small piece of land next to the school. When it rains, two very low spots fill up with water on this lot just daring anyone to drive through and get struck. So, we parked at the school building and walked through the swamp to church. While there are times like these when we long for the paved parking lots of America, there are still many things we like about Africa. There are also many nice places (restaurants and hotels) here due to Arusha being the hub of tourism in East Africa.

Today, Jimmy taught the Bible class at Kisongo, John Rice preached and we all ate a spaghetti lunch at our house. Thank you for your concern, interest and prayers. Seventeen souls made their lives right with God this week. Without people like you, it would not have happened.

With Love from Africa,

The Jimmy Gee family

December 23 report

Greetings from Kisongo, Tanzania (East Africa)! One of the young men is Lazaro who was involved in teaching a friend at Tanzania Christian Camp last week. Selected as Mr. TCC, he was often seen studying.

In addition, two others (not associated with the camp) were baptized during that week. The Rice Family is scheduled to leave at midnight tomorrow after completing a camp at Dar Es Salaam where another 15 were baptized (must be the magic number this year). The Future Preacher's Camp has also come to a close with one person putting on Christ in baptism!

Jimmy taught the Bible class and preached this morning. Happiness Elibariki invited Salome and Rahabu, students from nearby St. Joseph University, to worship with us this morning. After services, they agreed to study the Bible with Abigail tomorrow.

We hope you have enjoyed the pictures and that you know a little more about Tanzania Christian Camp. Our thanks to John Rice and Ben Thompson for bringing "camp" to Tanzania several years ago.

Happy Birthday to our wonderful daughter-in-law, Lauren, who turned 22 on the 13th. Also, Jimmy's father, J.W., turned another year older on the 20th. We love and appreciate them!

We regret that one of our largest contributors ($333/month) found it necessary to end their support this year. We appreciate their faithfulness and all the good they have helped to accomplish through the TZ 2000 Mission Work. If anyone can help to make up that monthly difference we would be grateful.

May the Lord bless you richly as you serve Him where you are. We wish you the happiest of holidays, spent with your family and friends! Thank you for ALL you have done for us...all the prayers, cards, financial support and every kindness since we have been serving overseas. Our heart-felt gratitude is also extended towards you for your genuine love and concern for the souls in Tanzania. Because of you, it was a great year for the Lord's church in Tanzania!

From Our Home to Yours,

The Jimmy Gee family

You Shall Know The Truth...

Beloved in Christ Jesus,

Greetings from staff and students of the Southwest School of Evangelism (SWSE), Ibadan and my fellow WBSFUW in the Western part of  Nigeria.

We evangelized Kute town as scheduled with brother Sunday Samuel Adegoke and the Kute brethren on December 13 and 14, 2013. On December 14, the exercise, door-to-door evangelism commenced by 9:00 am through 3:00 pm while the public open-air Bible lectureship was between 4:30 to 7:30 pm. Brother Sunday Samuel Adegoke, the host minister and one of year 2004 graduates of SWSE-Ibadan spoke first on “Sin and Its Effects,” while I spoke on “Identificational Marks of the Lord's church.” The theme for the open-air Bible Lectureship was "You Shall Know the Truth".

On Sunday at the Onikokoro / Gbongudu congregation, Ibadan, I taught on "The Highway To Heaven,” Isaiah 35:8, while brother Destiny Elijah, one of the year one students of SWSE-Ibadan admonished the church from Ezekiel 14:6.

At the campus church, Butubutu village, brother Abraham Idu Yeje, the campus minister and one of the year 2 students of the school taught on “The N.T. Church” while brother Oladipupo Ishmael Alabi admonished the church on “The City of Refuge.”

On December 20 & 21 we (myself and a fellow WBSFUW) will evangelized Felele area of Ibadan with brother Dele Shotola and I will speak on “Escape For Your Life” during the evening open-air Bible Lectureship at Felele junction-Ibadan on December 2. On December 28, we shall participate actively at a day Bible Lectureship organized by brother Akinyoola Femi and the church at Obalende-Ibadan where I was assigned to speak on “Where Are You.”

Brethren, the SWSE-Ibadan and Lagos satellite campus recorded over 150 conversions and over 200 restorations this year (2013), plus 5 congregations planted in Oyo, Osun, Lagos and Ogun States. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

On behalf of myself and my family and the SWSE-Ibadan & Lagos satellite campus, we want to thank all our supporters for their wonderful contribution and partnership over the years. Sincerely speaking, without you, we could not have done all these!

You all live such a wonderful, generous and sacrificial life and you show great concern and love toward the saving of souls from eternal condemnation, not only in the USA but throughout the world.

It is not because you possess all the material things of this world, but because you care and you are dedicated for the cause of Master, Jesus, and you know you are working with a living God (1 Corinthians 3:9; 15:58). And in this year (2013), you have all extended your usual and fantastic kindness to me and fellow WBSFUW and the SWSE-Ibadan & Lagos campus through brother Joel Coppinger of WBSTC, brother Doug Wheeler, brother Steven Ashcraft and brother Bob Turner of Bear Valley Bible Institute of Denver, CO, USA.

Brethren, I'm short of words, but I'm very very grateful for your brotherly kindness! May the Lord of blessing reward you all for your partnership and contribution toward this good work in Africa, Nigeria in particular.

We are truly grateful for what God has done through you for us in Nigeria! HAVE A BLESSED SEASON AND WONDERFUL NEW YEAR!

The SWSE-Ibadan main campus closed this afternoon to enable our staff and students to  participate actively in the end of the year program at their respective congregations.

We (WBSFUW in Oyo State) will be working this evening through tomorrow evening with brother Dele Shotola and the church at Felele-Ibadan in a two day open-air Bible Lectureship and door-to-door evangelism on Saturday morning (December 21).

Brother Kayode Solomon Eniafe will be working this weekend with some evangelists to evangelize Osogbo town in Osun State while brother Ezekiel Okoh and the SWSE-students at the Lagos campus and some WBSFUW will be working this weekend and the next at the computer village in Ikeja-Lagos State.

Brother Paul Akinwale will return home from Ilaje River side preaching trip on December 24, 2013, Lord's willing.

Brethren,we deeply appreciate your partnership and brotherly love! May the Lord of blessing continue to bless all our joint efforts in Christ name, Amen.

The Greatest Force On Earth Is Changing Eternity...

The power of gospel is the greatest force on earth: the power to turn darkness into light, the power to bring salvation to the lost. The force of the gospel is what makes the task of training preachers even more exciting. The beauty of witnessing the growth of men who are involved in taking the power of the gospel to their own people is astonishing and exciting.

The second quarter of the school year in Denver ends this week. Students will have a short break before continuing in their studies in January. The first of the year will also bring another class of students who will begin their journey in preparing to preach the gospel. We ask each of you to be praying for these new students, as well as, the two students who complete their studies and will begin a new work in the kingdom.

The reports this week are also filled with students in several of the extension schools who are completing another quarter of their studies. The first of the year will bring new classes and new opportunities to reach others with the gospel. The power of God’s word at work in the lives of so many around the world continues to demonstrate why the future of extension training looks so good. We are thankful for the opportunity to participate as fellow-workers in the kingdom.

Your prayers are needed and appreciated. Please read through the reports and consider how humbling it is to see men serving in adverse circumstances to share the power of the gospel with others, and read the results.

Now on to the other reports...

Final Thoughts
We want to close with a note of appreciation. With all that you could be doing, all of you have chosen to be involved in this work. Thank you! We are thankful for your love for the Lord, for the lost, for the church, and for the work of training preachers. We love you and pray for you each day.

God bless

Tanzania Chronicles: The Hochdorf Report...

Salamu wapenzi na ndugu,

We hope this finds each of you staying warm, safe, and enjoying the time of year when families can spend some quality time together.

In this part of the world it is pretty warm right now. The rains have started and have steadily dumped buckets of water a few times per day. I just know I saw an ark go by a few minutes ago, ha! We have also been experiencing steady power outages with the latest being 21 hours long. Our generator, which used to be a three legged dog, I have now unaffectionately named “pogo” as it is on its last leg and doing its best to putter out some juice. We are grateful to the good brethren in Salem, VA for purchasing a new generator for us and are praying it will get here (we shipped it on the Gaines’ container) before pogo gives up the ghost.

Tanzania Christian Camp (TCC) is almost halfway over. The John Rice family and Ben Thompson made their annual trek to TZ to direct this effort. Anita is one of the counselors this week and is working with the teenage girls. She took enough stuff to the school for crafts, studies, etc…that I think it would have been easier for the campers to come to our house. Where’s the Uhaul when you need it? This year there are almost 90 campers in attendance in addition to a sizable staff. The week consists of a good balance of bible classes, worship, activities and fellowship. Everyone departs spiritually fed and physically worn out. For those who dedicate themselves to TCC, and the spiritual nourishment of the youth in attendance, we offer our sincere gratitude. It takes dedicated, talented, people to do so. Make sure to check out the Tanzania Missions Facebook page for pictures of TCC within a week or so.

This coming Monday the Future Preacher Training Camp (FPTC) will begin. Boys and young men from all over will be staying at the Andrew Connally School of Preaching for five days of training that will include a variety subjects; hermeneutics, homiletics, how to build an outline, etc..., just to name a few.Christopher Mwakabanje will be directing the camp. Each of the faculty at ACSOP will be preaching at some point during the week. I am to preach Tuesday afternoon on the subject: Jesus Christ the tempted One, our example and our leader.

As I close, Anita and I extend our heartfelt thanks for your continued encouragement and support. As it is for everyone, there are hills and valleys to every work and it is good to know that we have friends and brethren who genuinely care and pray on our behalf.

Until next time, take care and God bless.

In Christ,
Sean & Anita

17 New Souls In Tanzania...

Greetings Fellow Servants;

We pray the Lord is blessing you with the strength, courage and resolve to continue the faithful walk to His glory and to the saving of the lost of this world. We are good on this side of the “big pond,” blessed beyond measure.

An amazing event has come to an end. This years Tanzania Christian Camp was a grand success on many levels. There was a lot of rain this year (camp week), but in no way did it dampen the spirits of those involved. Thank you John Rice and Ben Thompson for a job well done. John’s wife, Denise and son John also joined this year’s camp.

Between 80 and 90 campers came from many sister congregations to join in the spiritual feast, fellowship and fun. Camp here is different than most in America in this one way, the camper ages range from 15 to 25 years of age. Today at the end of worship a young man from the newly planted White Rose congregation, who attended camp last week, became the 17th soul to obey the Gospel. What a week, 17 new Christians. Amen!

So many good things took place this past week during camp. It was great to see our local brothers and sisters jump in and do whatever was needed. Our dear sisters in Christ from many of our sister congregations volunteered their time and talents, cooking for close to 120 each day. One of the “highlights” was when Anita pointed out the fact that many of those who lead in the one-on-one Bible studies were the young men who had attended previous “Future Preacher’s Training Camp.” The missionary wives pitched in and did a good work. For example, for movie night Stephanie provided the movie and, yes, the pop-corn. She spent over 5 hours, non-stop, in the kitchen popping corn. I’m tired just writing about it! Each night of the camp, the missionary takes turns providing the treat of the night, thanks so much my sisters in Christ!

As things often go here in Tanzania, we have been without power many days and we have been without internet for four days. So, if you have written and are awaiting a reply, stand by! Prayerfully, tomorrow (Monday) they will fix the problem. I am sending this report out via a remote location. The good news, we have rains and that means we have water! God is so good, all the time.

Update: We were unable to get out an update on our Bible Tract challenge on Friday due to the fact we had no internet access. So, here goes: We have a new leader (sorry Mississippi), with a most generous donation of $500 from a good brother in the Lebanon, Tennessee area. Tennessee is now “the most generous giver thus far. Welcome aboard Arkansas, you are now on the list of “generous” and you are ahead of Kentucky! We now have $779 toward our target of $5,000. Remember, we still have 16 days to take advantage of the most amazing offer of $5,000 in matching funds.

Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established” [Proverbs 16.3]

We thank you all and we pray our God will bless you in a very special way as this year comes to a close.

In Him, Cy, Stephanie & Granny

Three Day Preaching Trip In Nigeria...

Dearest in Christ Jesus,

Greetings from your fellow soldiers of Christ in Nigeria. Due to the bad state of our school van, we went on the three day preaching trip to Ode-Ajagba town in Ondo State as scheduled on December 6-8, 2013.

Friday evening and Saturday morning through evening were used in door-to-door evangelism and in visiting and encouraging some weak brethren in that city by some staff, students of SWSE and some World Bible follow up workers in Oyo, Osun, Ogun and Ondo sSates of Nigeria.

On Sunday morning, brother Sunday Samuel Adegoke led the service in songs. I taught on “Building a Strong Local Church,” brother Paul Akinwale admonished them on “Faithful Until Death” and brother Bayo Allen led in the collection of the saints and communion. We are 56 in attendance with total collection of N6,500=. To God be the glory, we had two restorations of two brothers who left the church some few years ago.

At Ibadan, Onikokoro / Gbongudu congregations, brother Samuel Arowolo, a year 2 student of SWSE, taught on “Building on Solid Rock” while brother Emmanuel Makinde, one of our year 1 students, admonished the church on “Where Are You?”

Brethren, one of our graduates named brother Gideon Iluman, an evangelist working with the church of Christ, Bonny camp in Port-Harcourt, River State reported the restoration of one of their former Bible teachers on December 6, while one of our year 2 students, named brother Augustine Odoh, reported the conversion of five souls during his one week preaching trip to the Asejire congregation between Ore and Benin cities, from December 6-8, 2013.

At the campus church in SWSE-Ibadan, one of our year 1 students, named brother Tsado Jonathan, taught on “Worship that Pleases Jehovah,” while brother Samuel Oloroded admonished the church on “Obedience is the Key!”

Beloved, we thank you all for your partnership, and we shall appreciate so much if this wonderful relationship can continue beyond year 2030!

Thanks for your labor of love.

I remain yours in His service,

Makinde Ebenezer Olufemi (Director of studies)

An Alumni Update From Uganda...

Those who attended the Alumni Seminar:

1. Kambale Munduwabo from Congo: Thako congregation. This congregation is at the border of Uganda and Congo. He said, when we went back home, the man who had sold us a piece of land took it back. The members are now crossing into Uganda every Sunday to worship together with Kitoma church of Christ on the Uganda side. This year we have baptized one man who is  still faithful to the Lord. We advised him to continue worshiping in Thako which he agreed, but the biggest problem is funds which can pay for a place of worship. We are only six Christians who have no income. If there is a way they can be helped with some funds to pay rent, we would be thankful.

2. Sande Joseph (Uganda): from Bugiri District in Western region of Uganda of Nabyunyu church of Christ. We are doing well. We are meeting 20 Christians. The storm blew the roof of the house we were  renting for worship. Brother Sande gave a plot to the church where we are planning to start build a temporary house for the church to meet in. Our future plans include making 10,000 bricks to help them build a permanent house of worship. We have requested for a seminar in their village in December. We will be planning to go there when the school will be off.

3. Ruffino Muruka(Kenya): He is now the preacher of the Sigomere church of Christ which has 13 members in Western Region of Kenya as well as an instructor in the Bible School at that church. He planted a church in Namayika, his home village, with 12 members which he left under the care of a young preacher he trained. At Namayika, there is meeting at the Home of one member. They are looking for funds to purchase a church plot and build a church building. In January 2013 they organized a seminar in the Mumias church of Christ. In March we had door to door evangelism at the Sigomere church of Christ. In May we conducted a seminar for four days and one woman was baptized. In the same month I taught about the “one true church” at the Bar Ber Church of Christ during their seminar. In August I taught in the Mulwanda Church of Christ “The Role of Parents in a Christian Home.” In the same month of August, we had a gospel meeting at Namaika and two people were baptized.

4. Okochi Josephat(Uganda): He is the preacher of the Junge church of Christ. This congregation has a plot and a temporary building on it. We have a plan for making bricks for a permanent church building. At present we have a grass thatched church building. Our weekly attendance ranges from 12 to 14, on good days. We are also planning to start digging our latrine. The goat I got from the school helps the church to pay trees which was on the plot we bought.

5. Onyango Moses (Uganda): I am now the preacher at the Bwoya Church of Christ. We now have 26 members attending on a weekly basis. We lost one Christian; one Christian is a backslider. We have plans to build a permanent church building, we have dug our latrine and it is almost done. We go house to house teaching God’s word every Sunday from 2 to 5 in Bwoya Village. Our  future plan is to start preaching in our market with public addresses. Every month we contribute 30,000/= to support our sister congregations.

6. Daniel Oloo (Kenya): Bar Ober Church of Christ, January and February I was in Bar Ober  and the attendance was 12 Christians meeting, five men and seven women plus thirteen children. In march I attended a seminar in Muramba church of Christ and there was no baptism. In April I was in Bar Ober. In May we conducted a seminar at the Bar Ober and Murumba church of Christ. In the same month of May, I went for a gospel meeting in Nyeri Central, Kenya. Five people were baptized. In June 2013 we held a seminar in Mumias 3 people were baptized. During the month of July 2013 I was in Bar Ober. In the month of August, I went to the Nyahururu Rift Valley of Kenya for the East Africa Gospel meeting. We went door knocking for five days and many people heard the gospel; one person was baptized.

Agriculture  Report:

Vegetable:

I have used the skill I obtained from Uganda School of Evangelism in how to grow vegetables  and I am no longer buying vegetables for my family.

Maize, Cassava, sweet Potatoes and Bananas

Through the skill I got from the school, I am now able to grow crops in a better way.

Challenges  Facing  the Church:

*Lack of proper place for the church to meet for worship, we are still renting.

*The Bar Ober Congregation is still very small in number and cannot support us with anything, instead they look for support from us.

*I would do better if I could get some support.

7. Remegio Omollo (Kenya): At the Bar Ober Church of Christ, we have 12 members. From 7th to 9th of March 2013, I was at the Muramba church of Christ for a seminar and door to door  evangelism. From the 9th to 11th of May, we had  a seminar and went from house to house. Two people obeyed the gospel. From the 23rd to 25th of May 2013 we held another seminar at  Murumba town and now we are looking forward to planting a church in that town. The  unmarked months, I have been ministering at Bar Ober while brother Daniel Oloo is out for evangelism  work.

Agriculture Report: From the skill I obtained from the Uganda School of Evangelism has  enabled me to be stable in feeding my family adequately. I have enough throughout the year. Now I am planning to have more for commercial sales. I plant vegetables using organic manure in raised beds, using the drip irrigation kit we got from the school. I have also planted bananas and pumpkins in large holes as we were taught at school.

Challenges Facing The Church:

*We don’t have a permanent place of worship.

*Lack of sustainable financial flow.

*Poor means of transport.

*Inadequate agriculture equipment and inputs.

Way Forward:

*We are straining to get a permanent place of worship.

*We are pleading with sympathizers who can stand with us in this ministry.

*We are looking forward one day to getting a modern easy way of transport.

*We are slowly equipping ourselves with agriculture equipment such as wheel barrows, spades, but looking for small machinery like walk behind tractors to enlarge our farms.

8. Juma Solomon (Kenya): The people we baptized last year are all going on well. This year at the Lugega church of Christ we baptized five people and they are all going on well. Lugega church has bought land and we are raising money to build our church building. Right now in our treasury we have KGX 25,000/= ($294 dollars). We need about $700 dollars so that we may  complete our bulding. The bee hive I was given on graduation day has boosted my income very much and it is through this income that I give to the church treasury whenever I harvest  my honey. We have two studies going and very soon these people are going to obey the gospel. We need your prayers.

9. Richard Olwenyi (Uganda): I am now worshiping at the Genguluho church of Christ. The church at Hagulu is no longer meeting. When I left my family at I went to Andrew Connally  School of Preaching in Tanzania. The church stopped meeting. I am still solving the problems that was at Hagulu, very soon the church will be meeting.

10. Odido  Costant (Uganda): When I left school I could not continue going to the Sirere church of Church as did not have transport. I went to Budala and continued with the congregation which was meeting in my home. The members decided to change a place of worship. At Budala 6 people were baptized. Through our evangelism, two congregations have been planted. In Busiro, a village on shores of Lake Victoria, 9 people have been baptized and the church is now meeting in that village. Brother Girigori had some contact with some people at Lolwe Island in Lake Victoria. We went there and taught a large group of people and 14 people were baptized. Through my ministry, we have 14 meeting in Budala, 9 meeting in Busiro and 14 meeting in Lolwe. All these congregations have no place of worship of their own. They are just meeting in the homes of members. It is our prayer that God bless us with a place of worship called ours.

11. Wandera Julius (Uganda): After 2009 I started going at the Bulukuyi church of Christ for one year. I later went to Kampala to look for employment. I was there for six months. In 2002 I started going to Nangera village where four people were baptized. Early this year I went to the Andrew Connally School of Preaching, but because of some problems, I did not continue with  the school. After that, I found brother Silvano and we started meeting in Lumino and two people have been baptized.

The biggest challenge facing them is learning that the school cannot continue supporting them. It has become very heard for them to start working for a living. Some still believe that because they are preaching every Sunday and attend some seminars, someone somewhere must pay them. It is our prayer that these students, while at school, take it seriously to learn what we are teaching them in Agriculture and start doing this in their homes, as some are reporting.

We had more than 12 alumni, but some did not come with their report.

What Is God Doing In Togo? Just Read This...

What is God doing with our New preachers?

God is using our new preachers in wonderful ways in the kingdom. Since September, three new congregations have been planted and our recent graduates are preaching there.

1) Agou church of Christ – 4 baptized members and the preacher is Agnala Essodinam. (Outcome of September campaign)

2) Agoe Vakpossito Church of Christ - 6 baptized members and preacher is Sodohume.

3) Klime Church of Christ - 18 baptized members and preacher is Atikama.

Urgent Need: We need $500.00 each to build a structure for each of the new congregations. These new congregations are also up for adoption. Contact me for the details.

Let’s encourage these men as they labor under difficult circumstances.

One Incredible Week In Training Preachers...

The report this week is filled with incredible news about the work of extension training. The length of the report is longer than usual, so I will be brief to allow you opportunity to read the exciting news that has been shared this week.

We are finishing up the last week of classes in Denver. Two students, Brad Toy and Chris Krotz, along with their families, will complete their studies and move east. The Toy family will be working in Kentucky and the Krotz family will be in Ohio. Both of these men have done an incredible job during their two years at Bear Valley. They are both good students of God’s word and we have the greatest confidence in their ability to strengthen the church and add souls to the kingdom. We ask you to join us in praying for them as they leave Denver for the greater good of God’s kingdom.

The week ahead will be filled with anxiety and excitement as we continue serving in the work of training preachers. Your hand in the growth and development of this work cannot be overstated. Thank you for your generosity, prayers, participation, and encouragement. We are aware of how much you mean to this program. We pray God will continue to bless you richly for all you do for His church.

A Day In The Life...

"The things which you have heard from me...entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also" II Tim. 2:2.

We hope you will HAVE as good a Sunday as we have HAD (the U.S. is eight hours behind our time). Cy and Jimmy have returned from two weeks of teaching at the Kenya School of Preaching.

Friday evening all the missionaries, Randy Pyle and Tom Brandon, Tizo, Beth and Jackson Joseph plus a friend of Stephanie's, enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving dinner at the Stafford's house!

Saturday, the graduation ceremony for the Andrew Connally School of Preaching (ACSOP) and the Arusha Bible School (ABS) were held. After studying for two years, the fourteen graduates will go out into East Africa to spread the Word. Three students graduated from the ABS. Over 200 people attended this event where Randy Pyle and Tom Brandon were the two keynote speakers. Today, in Bible class, Jimmy began teaching a lesson series on I, II, and III John at Kisongo. Our guests, Randy and Tom, spoke at the Arusha congregation.  Afterwards, we all enjoyed lunch with them and Nathan and Jessica McVeigh. Both Randy and Tom are scheduled to leave this week. We are appreciative of their teaching at the ACSOP and speaking at graduation.

A marriage seminar will be held at the Arusha congregation next Saturday. Speakers will include Tanzanian evangelists plus American missionaries. Jimmy's lesson will focus on following God's instructions.

Two new souls been added to the church! An interesting conversion story follows one named Lordrick. Last June , a short-term worker (Brian Covalt, from Oklahoma) was jogging one morning and met Lordrick riding his bike. Unfortunately, Brian was scheduled to return to the states before he could study with him. However, when Brian got home he called Ahimidiwe requesting that he find and study with Lordrick. Ahimidiwe began studying, and two weeks ago, Lordrick was baptized...and brought a friend to worship today.

"A Day in the Life." While out grocery shopping, Trina was pulled over by a traffic cop (you don't have to commit an offense to be pulled over here). The police woman declared that the road license decal was "finished" (expired).  After asking several times what the expiration date was and only getting the answer, "it's finished and you owe a fine," Abigail got out to check it and noticed the ink was so faded it was illegible. Realizing she had no case, the police woman asked to see Trina's license. Then she simply walked away from the car without bothering to dismiss her.

Stuck in traffic (two minutes later the same day) behind a huge truck, Trina watched a man cross between it and our car (people cross the road EVERYWHERE). When the man laid his forehead on the front of the vehicle, Trina thought he was either tired, sick or mentally ill. When he began tapping his head on the car, Trina suspected he might be pretending she had hit him. After blowing the horn, he went to the passenger's side where Abigail was. Thankfully, the locks had been repaired a few weeks earlier. (THANK YOU!) As Trina began to drive around the truck (to get away from the man) she realized she has been sitting behind a stalled vehicle for 5 minutes!

Some very sad news came from a congregation in Mbeya (southern Tanzania near Chimala). It seems that the preacher's house boy arrived late one night. The boy and the preachers' wife argued and he went to his room (lived with them). Later that night, he killed her in her bedroom. How tragic!

We are eagerly anticipating the arrival of John, Denise and John-Tyler Rice this Friday. They, along with Ben Thompson and others, will conduct Tanzania Christian Camp (TCC). This is a "much-looked-forward-to" yearly event where young folks are saturated with Bible teaching, inspired by spiritual songs and greatly encouraged by the fellowship of other Christians.

Future Preachers' Training Camp begins immediately after TCC ends. One reason for putting TCC ahead of FPTC is to increase the number of young men attending this second camp. When TCC is over, the young men can stay at the school (without going home for the weekend, since many come from far away) and have another great week of "spiritual training." Thanks for making all this possible!

We wish you a wonderful holiday season in which to relax (not shop 'til you drop) and enjoy the company of family and friends. Time spent with family is worth more than all the gifts money can buy.

With Love From Africa,

The Jimmy Gee family

A Challenge Worth Meeting...

Greetings Fellow Servants;

We hope and we pray this Short Report finds you well, blessed and serving faithfully. We are good, busy, blessed and thankful for the privileges we share in Christ Jesus.

During the month of October, I was in the States presenting God’s Tanzania 2000 Mission effort with many. We “Challenged” those I met with needs we have that we might reach as many souls as possible with God’s Good News, the Gospel.

One “Challenge” was for funds to purchase 2,500 Bibles to distribute during 2014. You answered with an overwhelming “yes we can!” Of the needed $15,000 we have received all but $2,500.

Another “Challenge” was to provide sponsors for a hopeful total of 30 new students for the 2014 intake at the Andrew Connally School of Preaching. Again, you met the “Challenge” whole heartily. We have Sponsors for all 30 students! Thank you and we thank our God for you.

Another “Challenge” was the replacing of $800 a month in support, $400 for the Stafford family and another $400 for the Mwakabanje family. Our good brother and sister at the Hoover church of Christ has graciously replaced the $400 for the Stafford’s, now we only lack the $400 for the Mwakabanje family.

Just when we thought it could not get any better, it did. We have a $5,000 matching commitment from an amazing couple in Oklahoma for the purpose of printing Bible Tracts and for the printing of Bible Correspondence Courses. So, here is the “Challenge:” We want to “Challenge” you with a little “Competition” by States. If you are, say, from the State of Mississippi and you donate $100 toward this printing “Challenge” I will report every Monday and ever Fridat, State by State, (until the $5,000 matching funds are met). The Prize will be a special prayer from the Tanzania 2000 Mission Team for a very special blessing in your life from our Heavenly Father! God knows your needs, your desires and wants to bless you. So, what “State” will be known as THE “Giving” State? CO, MS, TN, AL, TX, VA, GA, NJ, LA, OH,.....? Now remember, it is OK to exceed the $5,000 challenge, the more we print, the more souls that will hear/read of the love of God and of His abundant mercy.

Stephanie and I understand the power of the “printed page” and are committing the first $100! With this one donation, matched with another $100 for a total of $200, we can print 10,000 Bible Tacts. Each Bible Tract given to a soul in a developing country will be read by 15-30 souls. Imagine, reaching 15 to 30 thousands souls with the Gospel for as little as $200.

Now, if you are reading this and desire to participate in this challenge I ask that you let me know by emailing and letting me know what State you are from and how much you are donating. Your donation can be sent to Bear Valley with a note: TZ2000 Missions/Printing Challenge. Thank you all and may your holiday season be all you hoped it would be and may our God use you to bless the life of some lost soul. We love you and we thank you for your part in the “preaching and teaching” of the Gospel here in East Africa.

In Him,

Cy, Stephanie and Granny
