Students Prepare To See 26 Villages In Cameroon...

Dearest in Christ,

Greetings from Cameroon. We do hope you are all doing great in all that you are supposed to do for the Lord and humanity.

We give thanks to God for another successful end of a quarter in CBIW for the past two weeks we were involved in the intensive short courses in the book of “2 Corinthians” and “Advance Hermeneutics.” These short courses were taught by two of our former students who are now full time evangelists in congregations, both in the French and English part of Cameroon.

This morning the Wotutu congregation, we prayed for all the students as they embark on their journeys to 26 different villages and towns all over Cameroon, some to French speaking locations. We are looking, by His grace, for the establishment of a new congregation in Isokolo village. We have been there many times for a survey. Keep the work in your prayers.

Students will travel by boat and some will travel long distances on muddy road to get to where they will serve. Please keep them in your prayers.

Brother Mokwe Eugene taught the word to someone who is just returning from the farm, so many people are eager to hear the truth. Keep us in your prayers as we reach out to many, so that the seeds we sow in their hearts will bear good fruit soon.

Our country celebrated a national holiday concerning our re-unification between the French speaking Cameroonians and the English speaking ones. Our history holds that we were one, but later on we were divided because of colonialism. If our history holds that, then we Cameroonians stand by it. It is the same with the gospel that we preach. We are supposed to be one indivisible in Christ. Let us keep away from our geographical locations and ethnicity or our skin color. We are one in Christ. Let us pray for love, cherish, encouragement, provoke one another in love and good works as we labor daily in the vineyard. Jesus prayed for our oneness, ask yourself a question: Do you sincerely know that we are one? 1Co. 1:10-12.

Plans
Our students are out to many congregations, mostly to those congregations that, by His grace, we have established and we are nurturing weekly. Keep them in your prayers.

Many demands by some congregations for us to come and help reach out.

I still feel bad about the roof of the Koba congregation. Rains have started, what will happen now with the Christians in my village congregation? Please pray and see if you can be of help to cover the walls from windy rain which starts the rainy season in Cameroon.

Appreciations
It is a thing of joy to us always, as we join together weekly to say thank you. We thank God on your behalf for all the great works you are doing in God’s kingdom. God bless you and only He will reward you in due season.

Do your best to share with others this report. I will report back weekly, only when the students will return from their vacation after campaign. God bless you.

Elangwe and family

Southern Institute Of Biblical Studies Begins...

A new school recently began classes in the Nsawam / Doboro area of Ghana, West Africa. These new students are studying to prepare themselves for ministry. This week’s report features several pictures from the grand opening celebration of the Southern Institute of Biblical Studies. We will continue to learn more about the development of this first class of students and share news with you about their growth.

The photos highlight the opening that took place on February 15th. These photos show the building, the new students, some of the instructors, the office, and the classroom. There are also pictures of the office furniture, classroom desks and chairs, pulpit, whiteboard, ceiling fans, and other improvements. With your help, we were able to get this new program started.

Since we are at the first of the month, there are more reports to read through, so we will keep this section brief. We encourage you to read through each report because the news is exciting. A few prayer requests are mentioned significant to the work in several places. Please pray for these areas and the challenges facing the staff and students in these locations.

Recent Trip To Paraguay Report...

On Friday February 21st I was able to meet with brother Troy Spradlin who is the director of the school in Paraguay via Skype. We have plans to meet every Friday for the time being until I feel I have a full grasp of the daily activities that take place at the school.

In terms of the daily administration of the school, the student manual is being updated in an effort to prevent abuse from students during their tenure as preaching students. During my visit to teach I did witness firsthand Troy dealing with a student neglecting his room responsibilities.

In terms of the economic well being of the student body, students that are on partial status will receive a scholarship increase due to a local increase in the cost of living. During the time that I was there, gas prices translated to over $6.00 per gallon and apparently the price of public transportation has increased.

We also had the opportunity to talk about the recruitment of future students. As it stands now, brother Troy communicated that there is not a good grip on perspective students. It has been my observation that Paraguay is a spiritual gold mine to reach souls for the Kingdom. I hope that in the days to come I will be able to connect a bit more with the administrators of the school, student body, and even the church over the internet. Troy and I talked about using the technology that is currently available such as Skype and other similar services that are of better quality that do not equate to the price of airfare. At the moment this is all the information that I have that is relevant that I would like to report in reference to the school. This week, Lord willing, I will meet with Troy via Skype and gather more information to report.

New Church Plant In Arusha Is Growing...

We were excited to be able to attend worship at the new Njiro Chini congregation today. Currently they are meeting in the home of Elly Martin until more permanent arrangements can be made. This is where the concentrated evangelistic focus has been for the month of February. Christopher Mwakabanje gives the following synopsis of the month's efforts:

February evangelism went very well. A total of 53 Bible Studies were set up, 9 are faithfully attending our regular worship services. Among the 53 Bible studies, 39 are very active. It requires more human resources on follow up. We had one baptism so far. The attendance on Sundays has grown up to 19 people on the 3rd Sunday.”

Meanwhile our daughter, Abby, decided to try teaching the children's Bible class by herself for the first time. She hopes to eventually get to where she can do a cradle roll class on a regular basis. We're very proud of her heart and desire to serve.

After a great worship service, Elly and his sweet wife, Neema, provided lunch for everyone. That's one benefit of visiting a very small congregation! We enjoyed ugali, rice, beans, a banana and meat stew, and various other goodies. It's always good to have a chance to visit with the Martin family.

Monday we will bid farewell to the group that has been visiting from the Town Acres church of Christ in Indiana. We’ve worked them hard, and have enjoyed getting to know them. We pray they have a safe journey home to their families.

I hope you enjoy your time with God and His people this week!

Short-Term Workers In Arusha...

Dear Supporters, Family and Friends,

We hope this update finds you well and thankful for your blessings! We are all doing fine. All around is green due to rains every day and sometimes twice a day. Four short-term workers have arrived: Dennis Dickey and his daughter, Mariah, Brian Howard and Nathan Bailey. All are from Muncie, Indiana and are excited about being here and working in the area of the new church plant, Njiro Chini. This past week, Dennis and Brian were tag-team teaching the Gospel of John to the second year students. Mariah and Nathan have also helped Jimmy, Lindsey, and Abigail organize the ACSOP library.

Please accept our apologies for the absence of pictures in this update. There are plenty we would like to include but our time is limited. Today at Kisongo, there were several visitors (6 to 8) attending worship. Many were new workers at the A-Z Mosquito Net factory. Two were neighbors that Heather and Candace invited. These two girls, Tina and Keshia, are boarding in a house behind us with 7 other girls, all who are students at Braeburn secondary school. Jimmy continued teaching the men and women I, II and III John. He also preached this morning on “How Does Scripture Describe a Good Man?”

Awhile back, we had the pleasure of meeting the Director of “Pippi House,” a Foundation for Girls. They are taking care of girls between the ages of 5 months – 24 years. He wrote recently asking if I had any English books (grammar books and any books written in English) to donate so they could have more material in which to practice reading. We have about 50 pounds of books to give them, including many Apologetics Press books and religious magazines and lesson books. What a great opportunity to share the Gospel.

Our sincere thanks to all who have given to our travel fund! $5300 has been received, leaving a balance of $9200. We are hoping to leave in May. If you or your congregation could help us reach our goal, we would be very grateful.

Last year, Jimmy accepted an invitation to speak on the Faulkner Lectureship (March 2-6) in Montgomery, AL. Thank you for praying for his safe travels, plus that of the Stafford Family who have begun their reporting tour in the states.

“If we work upon marble, it will perish; if we work on brass, time will efface it. If we rear temples, they will crumble to dust. But if we work on men’s immortal minds, if we impress on them high principles…and love for their fellow-men, we engrave on those tablets something which no time can efface, and which will brighten and brighten to all eternity.” ---Daniel Webster

7 Congregations And 400 Souls...

Greetings Fellow Servants,

Stephanie and I want to thank you all for making our life of service in Tanzania possible. We stand amazed at what God can do when we join hands and hearts to further along the saving message of God to the lost and dying of East Africa. Your friendship in the Gospel is yielding much fruit through the grace of God. This can be seen in the following comment from our good brother Christopher Mwakabanje:

“February evangelism went very well.

Christopher's comments are in reference to the sixth church plant in the Arusha area. In 1998, when we first began this amazing mission effort, there was one congregation of less than 30 souls in Arusha. Today, there are 7 congregations in Arusha with more than 400 souls worshiping our God each week.

We have our first appointment this coming Wednesday night. We have but a few openings, so, if anyone would like to hear of the good being done by God, through the Tanzania mission team in East Africa, please give me a call: 601-310-6170 or email me: tz2000team@gmail.com for a possible appointment. Here is the updated list of locations we will be at over the coming weeks:

March 5th - Hubbertville coC, AL
March 9th - Sherman coC, TX
March 23rd - Pearl Harbor coC, Hawaii
March 30th - Belle Chase coC, LA (pending confirmation)
March 30th - Chalmette coC, LA

April 6th - Raydon/Durham coC, OK (pending confirmation)
April 9th - Hooker coC, OK (pending confirmation)
April 13th - Edgefield coC, TX (a.m.)
April 13th - Henderson coC, TX (p.m.)
April 27th - Madison coC, MS (a.m.)
April 27th - North Brandon, MS (p.m.)

We close with an amazing opportunity. We went out on faith and secured some much needed video equipment we needed for our translation team/work. Our fellow laborers at World Video Bible School made available to us over $20,000 worth of equipment for $10,000. We have been blessed with $3,500 in donations already. The future of the Lord’s work will be enhanced greatly by our ability to tape Bible material in both English and Ki-Swahili to be distributed and used throughout all East Africa and into the Congo. Can you help us help them help themselves? Thank you!

We pray your week of service in Him toward others is fruitful and a true joy to your life.

In Him,
Cy, Stephanie & Granny

Chimala Mission: Chad Wagner Report...

Ephesians 3:20-21 (ASV)

"Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus unto all generations for ever and ever. Amen."

Overview of our Work
Our whole family is involved in this work here in Chimala. We are truly blessed to be able to be here. Below is an overview of how our family is involved with the work at Chimala.

Chad
1.  Preaching the Word of God. Each Sunday, Chad is preaching in various congregations in the Chimala area. He works closely with area congregations to develop leadership, help evangelize communities, and encourage the brethren. During the week, he is normally speaking in one of our daily chapels on the mission. Preaching the Gospel is central to what he is doing in Chimala.

2.  Teaching the Word of God. Chad teaches at our two-year school of preaching training men from Tanzania, Congo, Malawi, etc. He is working hard to train the next generation of preachers and church leaders.

3.  Overseeing all aspects of the Chimala Mission. The Chimala Mission has 6 departments with over 200 employees. It is a large operation! Chad is involved in all of the areas to see that they are on track to meet goals.

Rena
1.  Volunteers with our evangelistic mobile medical clinics. There are several clinics set up in the Chimala area where people can get vaccines, check-ups, pregnancy checks, medicine, etc. This is beneficial because so many people cannot easily get to the hospital for treatment.

2.  Coordinates the domestic side of the Chimala Mission. We have many different visitors at the Chimala Mission and that requires coordination regarding housing, etc. With so many groups coming to the mission, she keeps busy welcoming visitors to Chimala.

3.  Teaches nursing classes at the hospital. She and Cheryl Bode have been giving nursing education classes to the nurses at the Chimala Mission Hospital. This week's class: IV drip rates.

4.  Volunteers as needed at the Hospital. Doing various tasks as needed, she fills a gap that is needed at the hospital.

5.  Home-schools our children. With all that she has to do around the mission, she still home-schools 4 of our children from Kindergarten through 12th grade!

Our children work at the preacher school library, volunteer with our mobile medical clinics, volunteering at the hospital, etc.

We are very thankful for all the prayers and financial support

We Need your Help!
We have committed ourselves to living and working here at Chimala. We are glad to be here but we need your financial assistance to be able to stay here. Costs have increased but our support has not. We are in need of an additional $2,500 a month in support. We rely on you, our brothers and sisters in Christ, to come to our aid and support our work. During our recent furlough, we were blessed with some wonderful one-time funds. We also get a $100/month pledge from one congregation as well as a $500/month work fund pledge for Rena's nursing work. We are very grateful for that support but we still stand in need of personal support.

50/50
We are calling on 50 new congregations and/or individuals who can support us at $50/month. $50/month is not a great amount but when combined with over faithful support, it will allow us to be able to live and work here at Chimala.

We are calling on our brothers and sisters in Christ to help us in our time of need.

If you can help us in our support, please let us know. I will be happy to share our details with you if you have any questions.

Support a Student
There are several students at the secondary school and primary school who are orphans and/or are under-privileged. Our school is one of the best in the area. You can help provide a good education for these kids by helping pay for school fees. You can support a secondary school student for $1,000 for the year and a primary school student for $200 for the year. If you can help, please let us know.

Help get our hospital out of the toilet!
The Chimala Mission Hospital is a rural hospital which struggles at keeping prices low for the surrounding people while at the same time making enough to cover our expenses. It is not always easy. We are starting a fundraising campaign to fix the bathroom facilities at the hospital. You can check out pictures and more information at http://cherylinchimala.blogspot.com/2014/02/help-our-bathrooms-get-out-of-toilet.html.

Micah accidentally injured
While doing some work at the shop, Micah and Dakotah Price were running through the rain. During the run, Micah's hand sustained an injury for which she needed stitches.

Thank you!

Due to your generosity, we were able to provide a motorcycle for an evangelist who travels to various congregations to preach.

Praying For Successful Outreach...

Beloved in Christ Jesus,

Greetings! We (myself, two of my co-WBS follow-up workers: brother James Waleola and brother Dele Shotola, and three of SWSE students) visited and studied with 39 WBS students of brother Bill Dority /SC-006 over the weekend of February 22, 2014 at God is Able College, Monatan, Ibadan.

On Sunday at the Onikokoro congregation-Ibadan, in continuation of our three months Indoor Lectureship, brother Destiny Elijah, one of the SWSE year 1 students, taught on “Items of True Worship,” while I admonished the church from Deuteronomy 6:1-7.

At the campus church in Butubutu, our campus minister and one of SWSE year 2 students, named brother Abraham Idu Yeje, taught on the “Second Coming of Christ” while brother Emmanuel Shotola, a year one student admonished the church from Matthew 22:1-14.

Brethren, I will be working with brother Doug Wheeler from today through March 1, 2014, and I plan to distribute freely between 1,500 to 2,000 copies of vol. 78 of VOT International within our country, Nigeria, during this preaching trip with brother Doug.

I, therefore, solicit your prayerful support for successful outreach. Thanks for your partnership! May the Lord of blessing continue to bless all our joint efforts in Christ name, Amen.

Sincerely in Christ,

Makinde Ebenezer Olufemi (Director of studies)
Southwest School of Evangelism (SWSE), Ibadan & Lagos campus, Nigeria

Chimala, East Africa Bound...

We are looking forward to traveling the 20 plus hours back to the Chimala Bible Institute in two weeks. We have been sidelined by a hip replacement surgery and then even a heart condition. But we have been so blessed by the prayers and support of the greatest brethren in the world. We have kept up weekly with the teachers and students and have been reminded by two great truths.

First, our God is so gracious and loving along with the support and love of the members of Christ body. The acts of kindness, interest and concern for myself and the students at CBI have been heartwarming. Second, our Tanzanian teachers and preachers are dedicated and competent. The school is running fine. Boaz, our senior teacher and elder in the Lord’s church, has been my chief recorder. He has reminded me of the brethren’s fight to remain sound and committed, even in some unusual situations. The teachers at CBI all have the BVBID master’s degree and are amazingly hard workers and faithful evangelist.

The student body is more varied than it has ever been. Boaz reports, “as for now we have 19 students from Swahili and English. We have more requests from the refuge camp, so far we already have one from Congo and we hope to get another five from the camp. And another four from Dar, one from Iringa and the other from Ntapisi.”

As not only a faithful evangelist, but also an elder of the mission congregation, Boaz reports CBI has become a training ground for the growth and development of the local congregation. He says, “we have also four students from the Chimala Mission congregation, Levi who is the son of Joster Mwilongo is very diligent in working with the church. We also have a daughter of the late chaplain of the hospital (Elia Mdindile) who served for 40 years at the hospital; we are training her to teach the Primary school kids.  Finally, we have the son of one of our deacons whom we are also training to be a preacher at the Chimala Mission congregation.”

Yes, we are eager to return and help these great brethren do the work of “training preachers.” We will be returning with Brent Smith who has taught for many years at the Chimala mission. Brent, a faithful gospel preacher and graduate of FHC, is going to teach the Gospel of John and Christian Ethics. The first two weeks we will be teaching “Biblical World” and “Christian Evidences.” Then we will settle in to teaching the long quarter. Please pray for Brent, his daughter and myself as we return to CBI. We will be returning with Bibles for our students, books and study guides that have so generously been provided by the Rossville Church of Christ. Returning to help train the next generation of preachers and teachers in Tanzania, Malawi and the Congo.

Uganda School Of Evangelism Nears Graduation...

Dear brethren,

Uganda School of Evangelism
I am very sorry to have not been up to date with my reporting. Let me hope that I will be able to continue communicating very often as possible. We are doing fine here in Uganda and the Lord is blessing us very much. Margaret is doing fine here at the school making sure that everyone gets something to eat and also that the school compound is clean, plus all the dormitory and all classes. The front roof of the dormitory needs some replacement, the cement ceiling is too heavy for it. We need to replace the whole front with the ceiling boards. The cost is estimated to be 1,777,600/= $750 dollars.

We have ended our short course and on March 3rd the long course of the last quarter of the second year is beginning. Ouma Christopher is going to teach the “Beatitudes,” “Anti-ism” and the book of “Revelation” in the English Class, and Samson Omutele is going to teach the same subjects in the Kiswahili Class. Ojiambo Morris going to teach “The Millennial Mania.” Peter Ambaka is going to be teaching “Is God the author of the Bible” and “The Synoptic Gospel.” Graduation date is still on the May 9th 2014. You are all welcome to our third graduation.

Our Solar System is doing fine as of now. The last time problem was caused when someone turned off the a small button behind the inverter. We have piped the water up to the fish ponds, but this has been done late. We are likely to lose all our fish due hot weather here. This year the wet land is very dry. We can only pump water for an hour that is between 12 and 1 pm. Another problem is that the pipe we used is small and amount of water little. We have two more holding ponds of 12m x18m and another 9m x 17m and now we are digging another one which is 42m x 20m. The reserve pond which we had dug is one meter deep. We have gone as deep as two meters now after the advise we got from the Chinese technicians who were brought to our school to teach us more about fish farming by the Busia District Local Government. They also taught us how we can plant rice in the fish pond and harvest rice as we harvest fish. After having planned where to put all these, we have started fencing. The fencing area will be bigger than we had estimated at first but we shall see what to do as we go on.

Church of Christ Nandwa
The attendance is now ranging from 50 to 60 every Sunday. As all students of the Uganda School of Evangelism become members of Nandwa congregation and they are now using six students in evangelism. Nandwa has sent the remaining students to villages where the school had planted congregations. We have seen that it is not good for the school to send workers, but the congregation helping weak congregations with preachers and teachers of the gospel. As a school we have been getting problems with those congregations asking a lot of things from the school, some thinking that it is the headquarters where all problems should be taken. The Nandwa congregation’s men business meeting has selected four committees to take care of her daily work. We have now the financial committee, benevolence committee, education committee and evangelism committee. This year five people have been baptized. Margaret and I have started a kindergarten school which is being housed by the Nandwa church building. The school began on January 12th 2014. We have now 45 children. Every one has paid their fees for this term. We have sponsored one lady from Nandwa congregation to go for nursery school teacher course. She attends class on Friday from 2 pm to 5:30 and on Saturday from 9 am to 5:30 pm. She will be there for two years.

Church of Christ Namungodi
Emmanuel Mawa and Edith my daughter are working with Namungodi congregation. They have now meeting 10 people every Sunday. They have purchased a church plot and right now they are making bricks. They have so far made 7,000 bricks they want to make 10,000 bricks before the burn them. These few people are working very hard to make sure they have their own building. If there is any one who can help them with some money for buying 30 iron sheets of gauge 30 at 26,000 UGX and each with 20 bags of cement, they will appreciate it.

Church of Christ Bukalikha
Andrew Wanyama Tanga, a member of Nandwa congregation and a student of Uganda School of Evangelism, goes to Bukalikha village every Sunday to help them. He rides his bike for about 26 km round trip every Sunday. This congregation is meeting in my sister’s home. They are about 8 members meeting. Most of them are women and school children.

Church of Christ Sirere
I helped this congregation purchase a small plot on which there was an old house, which I hear fell down. Wandera Peter, a student of Uganda School of Evangelism who was sent to school by this congregation, visits this congregation every Sunday. This year one person has been baptized.

Church of Christ Haboomi
Kizito Joel, a student of Uganda School of Evangelism, is still visiting this village. There was an old lady who had given the church a place to build a grass and mud building for the church to worship from there. Then members contributed the poles and labour. I helped them with the grass to cover the whole roof. The son of this woman did some evil in the village and he was convicted and jailed for a year. When he came from prison he wanted the church to pay money for the area the mother had given to the church. When the brethren did not pay, he demolished the building and chased away the church. They are meeting in the home of one brother now. They bring their cries to the school for help and this makes the school look like the missionary society, instead of the church. After graduation, when Joel will be going back to his congregation in Kenya, that congregation will have no one to help them grow in the Lord. When there will be new students who ware  members of Nandwa congregation, then the Nandwa congregation will send men to that village to continue the Lord’s work.

Church of Christ Bulukuyi
This church is growing in the Lord after some up and downs. Last year they lost one of their members, brother Ouma Amborosi. This brother died on December 29th 2013. He died at the age of 82 years. He was once a student of Uganda School of Evangelism, but due to his weak sight, he was asked to withdraw from school as he could not see well on the board. Brother Olendo James, who dropped from school last year to take care of his family needs and later left the church, has been restored and now he is the one helping to teach that congregation the word of God. Brother Oswad, a first year student, started going there every Sunday when he is at school. The Nandwa Church of Christ will be sending him there this month if they will have means of supporting him with transportation and also be with him in all his small needs as the school does not have any funds to send students in the villages. It is my opinion that if there could be anyone in need of helping our students who are members of Nandwa Congregation to evangelize, he could send that help to the financial committee which is overseen by the business committee of all men of the Nandwa Congregation.

Church of Christ Nekuku
Brother Bonex Odongo, a student of the Uganda School of Evangelism and former member of  Bulukuyi church of Christ, has been traveling with his wife from Nekuku village to Bulukuyi village which is about ten kilometers, for the last  two years. After coming to school and starting to share the word of God with his friends of Nekuku village, two people were baptized and the church started meeting in that village. They are currently meeting in Bonex’s home under a tree.

We wish you well and may the Lord bless you as you continue in his vineyard.

Yours
Francis Wechesa

Classes Coming To An End, Campaigns Begin...

Dearest in Christ,

Greetings from Cameroon. We do hope this report finds you all in good health and a sound faith. We are doing better in health. My wife, who was sick, is getting much better. Thank you for your prayers. Some students who were not sound keep getting better as we continue to handle their situations with sister Ruth, the nurse.

Last week in CBIW went on well as our students have already finished one week of intensive short courses in “Advanced Hermeneutics.” They will continue this week with “2 Corinthians” and then they will move out for campaign.

Evangelist Norbert Bekwike, a student of our school who graduated as the best student during the alpha batch, was invited to come and teach a short course after almost two years in the field preaching and teaching. He did a great job and the current students were impressed by his passion, zeal and love for the work of an evangelist. Many desire to be like him, but more like Christ, as they prepare themselves for ministry in few months.

Evangelism is our mission and it is part of us. As the week draws near to Friday our hearts go out for souls in different communities that we must reach with the pure word of God. Every week the demands for our students to come over to different locations and help in evangelism and nurturing is increasing. This weekend we returned from 10 different villages to reach out and nurture congregations. This week another village felt the touch of the gospel in Mabonji village. The church of Christ was revived and two new precious souls obeyed the gospel. This village is not too far from Wotutu. Keep them in your prayers. I stood with a lady that admired the truth and said “I want to be a pastor.” That gave me more opportunity to give her the insight of the Bible concerning the role of women. The parents were all listening to me while they prepared their food. A total of 4 souls were added during the weekend with 10 restorations in the Mabonji congregation. Koba and Dikome continue to thank God for our efforts to make it to them every week. This weekend the student that went to Dikome and Koba were both soaked with rains as they used the motor cycle to get there. Rain met them on the way and they could not continue with the bad road and at night. They slept in another village in the chief’s house. What a God we serve. They are back weak and tired, but we have some drugs on campus that they will take to regain their energy. Thanks for making all of this possible at our disposal. God bless you all.

Sister Pauline Mbong continues to listen to our early morning radio program “Back to the Bible.” She listened and started visiting us, not on weekly basis, but today she obeyed the gospel after worship. Before obeying the gospel she came to me and asked what she will prepare as food, drinks and a fee to pay before her baptism. I told her “Jesus paid it all. You have nothing to pay for, just come with an open heart and God will receive you.” She was amazed as compared to how much she spends in her Roman Catholic denomination. Keep her in your prayers to keep growing. She is 65 years old now.

She smiled after her baptism. One of our students, Chijioke, held her hands to stand. In Christianity we need one another to hold our hands and help someone stand up for the Lord. That is what is expected of all of us. Keep this lady in your prayers and the church to be there for her to help her grow to maturity.

Plans
1) One more short course and the students will be off for campaign. Keep them in your prayers as they complete their first quarter in their second year of studies.

2) Entrance exams into CBIW for the GAMMA batch will come up on the 26th of April. Keep that in your prayers so that God will help us select those He has selected already for His work.

Appreciations
Our hearts are full with gratitude. Whenever we have opportunity to say thank you for your prayers, love and support for the work that is going on here. We lift up your names to God daily on your behalf. God bless you, watch over you and give you His peace in your going out and coming in. Share this report with others and remain blessed.

An Ending As Good As The Beginning...

The week is ended as it began with wonderful news about the growth in the Lord’s kingdom. The reports this week share exciting news about the work of students who are proclaiming the gospel of Jesus and influencing souls eternally. We never tire in hearing about the ways God continues to give the increase and bless the work.

The week ahead brings an end to the third quarter of the academic year in Denver. This means that in one more quarter we will see another group of students graduate from their intense studies over the past two years and enter the ministry. We will share more in the weeks ahead about these men, their families, and their plans for serving in the ministry after they graduate. Their initial plans have them locating from the West coast to the East coast and as far away as Malawi.

Several of the locations where we partner in extension training also have graduations scheduled over the next few months. Seeing the development of these students and witnessing their efforts to glorify God through the preaching of the gospel continues to be exciting. We look forward to reporting more about these graduations and the development of the work in each location.

The development and growth that occurs each year through the graduates who enter into ministry excites everyone. The reports indicate only a few of the ways God is working in the world to reconcile the lost to Him through Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

God is great!

Now on to the other reports...

The Power Of God's Word Cannot Be Denied...

Dearest in Christ,

Greetings from your brothers and sisters here in Wotutu. We are doing much better in health as we continue to take drugs and herbs to help us.

The students of CBIW will commence their short courses tomorrow. Their exams went on well. Keep them in your prayers as they study 2 Corinthians and Advanced Hermeneutics, as a short course.

As I write this report now all students who went out for weekend evangelism to 8 different locations are all back safe and sound. God took us and brought us back with good results from our outreach.

I was part of those who went again to the Koba congregation in my village to revive the congregation that was almost collapsing. Last week, one student went there and this week I accompanied him.

Koba village is my home village. We are struggling with getting the zinc that we shall use on the roof, because the congregation is always disgraced by rain when it meets them during worship.

It is not an easy journey to get to Koba Village. I am having body pains and tiredness because of the trip, but the glory belongs to God for helping me to come back home safe, even though I met my wife sick. Please keep her in your prayers.

I was able to teach the brethren in Koba this morning, encouraging them to keep working from John 9:4. They should not be discouraged as many in the village pass by and laugh at them because of the nature of their worship hall. Some fell away from grace because of this, but some stayed, knowing that Christians can worship any where. Please pray for these brethren who love the Lord but lack many things to make them comfortable in the house of God.

Our presence during the worship today continues to provide encouragement. Oh how I wish we could get a student there weekly that will help change the mentality of the villagers and win some souls to God.

Sister Kathy obeyed the gospel after she accused the student that went last week. She was carried away by philosophy that she was learning from college, so she was not ready to reason from the scriptures and try to understand what the scriptures are saying about God’s existence and many other issues. This week I was there and the student, brother Mokwe, continued again with Ps. 14:1. She looked upon her philosophical knowledge as useless. Keep her in your prayers to grow so that many of her friends will come to know the truth and obey it. A total of 5 precious souls and 2 restorations were recorded during our weekend evangelism in Koba, Dikome and Ediki congregations respectively.

The Koba congregation is witnessing growth. Last week they worshiped with 28 and this week they worshipped with 58. It shows a great improvement, as many are eager to listen to us as we move from house to house. I pray we do to Koba as we have done with other congregations by sending students weekly. It will be of great help when the hall under construction is completed. Please keep this work in your prayers.

Plans
1) We are getting more invitations for our students to come over to different congregations to help. Our hands are short to meet up.

2) Next month our students will go for their first campaign of the year that will show marking time towards their graduation come this year on the 11th of December. Keep our thoughts and visions in your prayers.

Appreciations
God bless you for all that you are doing for His work here. Keep on because only God can give you the best reward. We appreciate you from our hearts and we pray God continues to bless you and watch over you, the congregation, and your entire family.

Do your best to share this report with others.

Inter-Congregational Activities Promote Outreach In Togo...

The Nyiveme congregation was blessed with eight baptisms in January. CBS student, Djambacou, was baptized as well as the wife of student, Assuka. The Lord is blessing the Kpalime area churches of Christ through evangelism by students and the weekly radio program.

Kpalime Area ministers and their kids
The Kpalime area churches met to wish each other a happy and a prosperous New Year. The occasion was also used to plan programs for inter-congregational activities.

Wives of Kpalime area preachers
Preacher’s wives also met to launch their annual women’s program.

Rodrigue, instructor at CBS and the preacher at the Avetonu Church of Christ requested the assistance of CBS in a 3 day gospel outreach program. The goal of this program was to strengthen the Atiyi Church of Christ and to win more souls. Evangelists that were present included: Rodrigue, Cephas, Raymond and Jean. Some students who were part of the team were Daniel and Nicodemus. The Alikpoji Church of Christ also participated in this outreach program.

Three congregations to benefit from Church building fund.
It was a great joy to know that brother Walter of the Blanco Church has donated $1,500.00 to help provide a meeting place for three congregations. There are still several more of such congregations needing help. Another couple, Aaron and Brittany Morrison have also adopted two preachers with $100.00 each month and have donated $1,000.00 towards two more church buildings.

Congregations need places to worship
Funds have been disbursed for work to begin on the construction of a meeting place for the Hanyigba and Tutu congregations. The following congregations are also in need of a place to worship: Tsame, Atakpame, Kpadape, Notse, Agoe, Klime, Zomayi, Tugbli, Danyinu.

Note: The Agou congregation has started meeting in a rented building, so the funds will be used by another congregation for now.

The Zomayi congregation is trying to secure land in the area where they meet before the construction can take place. We are therefore providing funds to those who have access to land for construction. The names of preachers who will supported and congregations benefiting from the building fund will be published in my next newsletter.

Meeting place of the Tsame Church of Christ
The Tsame Church of Christ was started by one of our current students. While in the denomination he started five churches. Now he is helping to convert all the churches he had started to become the church of Christ. He is facing a lot of challenges, but is committed to the process. The principal, Cephas, continues to teach these new Christians and those who are yet to baptized. The congregation that meets under bamboo sticks and palm branches are brethren who have renounced denominationalism and have embraced the teachings of the New Testament. Continue to pray for the Tsame Church of Christ. The land on which they are meeting is a half plot that the owner is ready to sell to them but they do not have the funds.

ADOPTION PROJECT
Are you interested in adopting a congregation by supporting the preacher with a $100 each month and helping to build a meeting place at a cost of $500 (Five hundred dollars)? You will receive a monthly report from the preacher and establish communication with the congregation. Some have already joined in this effort. Please join them.

Exciting News Out Of Northern Ghana...

REPORT FROM TAMALE INSTITUTE OF BIBLICAL STUDIES.
As part of the curriculum, Tamale Institute of Biblical Studies embarks on an evangelistic campaign every quarter. For this quarter, Gotaani, a town in the Zabzugu Tatali District of the Northern region, was chosen for the campaign. Gotaani has a young congregation which was started last year by one of the graduates of the Institute, therefore, the evangelical campaign was done there in order to edify the members and also to help win more souls for the Lord.

Students preparing for the Day’s Work.
The students did the campaign under the supervision of brother Agyei Mensah and brother Tony Johnson who are both instructors.

During the 4 day evangelical campaign, all students, during the day embarked on house to house personal work in which they discussed with families “the essence of becoming Christians.” Then, in the evenings, movies on Abraham, the passion of Christ and Jesus story were shown each night after which a sermon was preached. The speakers included Agyei Mensah, Tony Johnson and Ishmael.

Students Sharing the Gospel with the people of Gotaani
By the grace of the Lord, two persons were baptized during the campaign and on Sunday during worship, (10) ten persons responded to the call. In all a total of (12) twelve souls were saved.

The Preacher, Brother Bilaam was very happy about the results of the campaign and promised to make further follow-up since there are hopes of more people being converted.

Students Baptized Those Who Believed
The worship on Sunday was attended by (58) fifty-eight adults and (95) ninety-five children, totaling (153) one hundred and fifty-three congregants.

Brother Daniel Agyei Mensah Baptized One of the Ladies Who Believed The Gospel
Apart from the fact that students had to walk long distances during the campaign, which brought about delays in scheduled activities in the campaign in general was very successful. It is our fervent prayer that the Lord, through our sponsors, provide us with a bus to enhance our activities.

Brother Daniel Agyei-Mensah assisted one of those who accepted the Gospel in baptism. All twelve newly baptized members of Gotaani Church of Christ stood with brother Daniel Agyei Mensah.

Students of TIBS Explaining the Gospel to a listening Crowd
By the grace of the Lord, the team has since returned home safely.

Opportunities Open At Local High Schools In Nigeria...

Dear brethren,

Greetings from your fellow laborers in Nigeria! The staff and students of the Southwest School of Evangelism (SWSE), Ibadan and fellow WBSFUW in Oyo and Osun states, evangelized Felele, Idi-Mango and Amuloko with brother Dele Shotola, the minister of Felele congregation, Ibadan and one of the SWSE 2013 graduates on weekend, February 15, 2014. At the end of the exercise, five WBS students of West Olive church of Christ, Peoria, AZ named Amoo Yemisi, Amoo Comfort, Amoo Deborah, Amoo Emmanuel  and Amoo Lydia from Amuloko village, Akanran Road, Ona-Ara L.G. from one family were baptized.

Brethren, I and brother Kayode Solomon Eniafe and brother Dele Shotola have directed these young converts to be worshipping with Akanran congregation.

Also, we are planning to plant the Lord's church at Idi-Mangoro area. It is challenging-Ibadan due to the way the people in that new area are receptive to the truth.

On Sunday at Onikokoro congregation, Ibadan, brother Arowolo Samuel (SWSE-year 2 student) taught on the “Day and Pattern of NT Worship” while another year 2 student, named Oladokun Samuel, admonished the church from Jeremiah 12:1-2.

At the campus church, brother John Zege Tobi, a year 2 student of SWSE taught “Living for Christ” from Col. 3:1-15, while one of the year 1 students named Gbenga Ilori admonished the church from 2 Tim. 3:1-5.

One of the High Schools visited last week at Ona-Ara local government with WBS correspondence courses is named Badeku High School. They are now inviting our team to be lecturing at the Christian students fellowship every Friday beginning this coming Friday. This now increases our assignment on Friday to two, one at St. Anthony High School, Ikoyi, Osun state and the second one at Badeku in Oyo state.

Brethren, we need your prayers! We also appreciate your love and care. May the Lord of blessing continue to bless all our joint efforts in Christ name, Amen.

Sincerely His & yours,

Makinde Ebenezer Olufemi (Director of studies)
Southwest School of Evangelism (SWSE), Ibadan & Lagos campus, Nigeria

An Overview And Expressed Need In Chimala...

Ephesians 3:20-21 (ASV) "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus unto all generations for ever and ever. Amen."

Overview of our Work
Our whole family is involved in this work here in Chimala. We are truly blessed to be able to be here. Below is an overview of how our famiy is involved with the work at Chimala.

Chad

Short-Term Workers Arrive In Arusha...

Class Continues At The Andrew Connally School Of Preaching...

The second week into the new school year the students and I are growing more comfortable with each other. The language barrier is a perpetual challenge as even the English speaking students struggle a little with my southern accent. Those who speak English still do so with heavy Swahili pronunciations. For example, a Tanzanian friend recently expressed that he thought that “bird," “bed," and "beard" were all pronounced the same. I can't imagine how laughable my efforts at Swahili must seem! But we are making progress with each session. I look forward to continuing to walk with these men along their path to becoming preachers. I hope that God has great things in store for them.

Devo
We enjoyed the privilege of hosting the missionaries' weekly devo at our house again this week. One of the visiting campaigners, Nathan Bailey, was gracious enough to provide the lesson for us continuing this month's theme of Love.

Njiro Update
We continued to do Bible studies this week in the Njiro Chini area where a new church has been planted. The baby congregation has had it's first baptism and is gaining more visitors each week. Gasper Maurice, one of the Andrew Connally School of Preaching graduates from this past November, has been working tirelessly in the new church plant by setting up, conducting, and translating for Bible studies. He is a great example of what we hope for from our graduates, and I expect him to continue serving well as the evangelist for the new church.

Eva Teaching Sunday School
Part of the goal of a missionary is to replace themselves. With that in mind, Tiffany has been working with a couple of the ladies at Ilkuirei to teach them how to teach children's Bible class. Eva has been translating for Tiffany, thereby observing how she teaches. Next Sunday, Eva is planning to teach by herself for the first time. We are excited about this step for her, and for the future of the congregation's children's class.

Expansion And Growth Bring Encouragement...

The work of extension training is expanding. We are excited about future possibilities for the development of new locations where men can be trained to preach the gospel. As these new locations are approved and finalized we will share the news. One of the staff members recently commented about the development of these new schools: “with these new locations we can say, ‘the sun never sets on a Bear Valley extension school.’” There is an idea worth promoting.

The expansion of the program in new locations will also bring new staff members to the program. When we finalize the development of each location, we will also announce the individuals who have dedicated themselves to the growth of these new schools. New faces and new ideas make for a good combination for developing each area more perfectly.

In addition to the consideration of new areas of school development, the past week brought exciting news about the current work of students involved in using their knowledge to take the gospel to their individual locations. The news is always encouraging to read as the gospel is proclaimed, souls are added to the kingdom, unfaithful brethren are restored, and the church is built up with encouragement.

One of the most exciting aspects of the news from each of these locations is the fact the church in the U.S. is also encouraged. We are all blessed to be a child in the Lord’s family. We are blessed to learn about the ways God works through His people. We are also blessed to share in the work with so many dedicated servants of the Lord who labor diligently.

Thank you all for the blessing you are to Bear Valley and the work of Extension Training.

Final Thoughts
There are so many complexities to the work of this program, so many people involved to insure the proper working of each component. The need is often times overwhelming, but the burden is lighter because of the funds, talent, labor and time contributed by each of you. This program could not function without you. Thank you.

God bless
