Evangelism if first in Mbanga, Cameroon

The students and instructors are doing their very best. As we are moving towards the end of this training period for this batch of students, studies are going on very well. The students are growing both in their ability to present well and in church administration. 

Weekend evangelism is also going on both in Mbanga and in sister congregations. We especially like to evangelize areas with no assemblies as our students will go and preach there and then come back to the campus after worship.

The students are also taking part in monthly evangelism as they go into different communities organized by the local congregation or zone.  The students and the director are also getting involved in hinterland missions of church planting and follow-up. The caption for this mission work is “Reach out the French World." This is known as “Operation One Church Per Village.” May God help us to accomplish this dream.

The alumni are also doing a great job with the idea of planting a congregation in each village in French Cameroon.  Congregations have been established in the North of Cameroon and in some other areas.

Salvation is that light that has revealed to us the great work of the Lord during creation.  For mine eyes have seen thy salvation which thou hast prepared before the face of all the people. These are the words of Simeon. " Evangelism is our mission and our mission is evangelism."

Calvary greetings from this part of the world and from the congregation of hospitality and bilingualism. The staff and students of the institution are grateful for the work that is ongoing in our country and in French Cameroon in particular. 

At this moment, when the world is celebrating the greatest football (soccer) event, that is taking place in three different countries, the students of the Bear Valley schools in Cameroon and in Mbanga in particular, are out to ten different communities to reach out to souls and to empower Christians with the greatest book in the world, which is the Bible. There shall be distribution of tracks, door to door evangelism, and some open-air preaching with mobile speakers just to name these few. Let the name of God be praised as we put these Bible interns, in the hands of God. 

The school also had the opportunity to receive missionaries all the way from the United States for an intensive four-day mission effort which consisted of the VBS for young kids and youth, a medical team for free medical consultation, and some evangelists and teachers of the gospel. The VBS team in Mbanga trained children on the Fruit of the Spirit. This was very exciting and the kids sang some songs using the fruit of the Spirit. Bibles were distributed to the older kids. It is the greatest weapon to be used to fight against the things of the flesh.

The medical team, headed by Vicki Harris, was another huge success as a large population of people turned out for the free medical consultation. Both the general body consultation and ophthalmologist services were offered. This was a very serious moment for the work. A lot is going on in our community and people are really suffering with illness and even lack the means to treat themselves or even go to the hospital for consultation. The assistance and relief brought to the community was a great help. Medication was also given for free. Glasses and used lenses were also distributed for free and so many went home with a smile on their face. Just like Jesus Christ healed the sick, and put a smile on the face of the woman with the issue of blood, and on the leper who came to give his gratitude to the Lord, some came to church on Sunday, to say thank you to the church for the loving services provided to them. It was a time for us to cease the opportunity to preach Christ to them. We give all the glory to the lord.

While the patients were waiting for their turn to see the doctor, the evangelists David Ballard and Barry Frambes, and some of our trained preachers were also touching the  souls of the people  with group instruction mixed with one on one follow-up. It was a fruitful exercise as the team recorded five baptisms and as more than four hundred people were taught the truth of the gospel. Good quantity tracks were distributed to them as well. There is joy in heaven over one sinner that repents. Praise the lord for this mission. The gospel was preached and food was given. The people were hungry for both physical and spiritual food and we gave them both.

The work of church expansion is very important, but at the same time it is very demanding.  Newly established congregations will always have the challenge of not only needing a permanent preacher to help them grow but need a place of worship, benches, and other needs.  There's always the need to do some follow up to ensure proper growth.  Some village chiefs have given land to the church to construct a place of worship. Some are ready to build with local wood, and even with local bricks, but will still need zinc (sheet iron) and other roofing material. This is part of what we are passing through as challenges with the newly established congregations in French Cameroon.

We pray that someday we shall have many congregations of the Lord’s church in French Cameroon.
