Wotutu, Cameroon receives visitors

Dearest in Christ,

Greetings from our beautiful Cameroon. We are always thankful to God whenever we have the opportunity to share news about the many wonders that God is doing in the life of many here in Wotutu and surrounding areas. We have another update of the work here for you and we do hope that you are doing great in your own place.

In the last few months, the ongoing problem of poor internet receptivity has continued to ravage our ability to give more constant reports of the work here. We take it as our duty to make sure the work is known to those who support the work here and who are praying daily for the onward movement of the work.

The Brightland Christian schools, both elementary and secondary, are a non-profit business. The underlying purpose behind the establishment of a Christian educational system, is to use Christian education to promote the advancement of the gospel and church growth. This effort is now ten years old. It is nice for us to be able to see this dream realizing its main purpose. Brightland Christian is a place to repair moral decay and promote righteous living. After its ten years in existence, we can nod our heads in agreement that God’s hands are upon this dream. Many lives have been touched educationally and as well as spiritual in that more than 180 souls have been won to Christ through the establishment of this school.

There was a parade march in the village of Wotutu that was showcasing the importance of Christian education to the community in particular and also to the nation as a whole. We explained to the public how Christian education is a panacea for church growth and a great agency that has greatly aided in the stand against moral decay. Many in our community and beyond, have seen the positive impact of the school in this regard. Please, you can kindly join us in taking this dream to another level, as our classrooms are still below the standards set for us and by us.

Prayers are a part and parcel of the life of Brightlanders. The Christians of Wotutu, alongside parents whose children are taking the external public exams known here as the GCE, were part of a prayer session to usher the students into the written session of their exams. Your prayers for them are requested and appreciated so as to help them throughout this period. Parents are brought closer to what the New Testament church teaches, because of the socio-religious program of the schools. We are penetrating the souls of men. We use Christian education to fight against the spiritual and religious confusion that is prevailing in the world.

Evangelism is our mission and our mission is evangelism. We cannot trade this slogan for anything. Taking the gospel to wherever we are called is one of the most interesting and important parts of the work. As we train preachers, we instill in them this slogan. Batches have come and gone, but they still live with this slogan. The slogan carries every need of humankind. Our students have carried the gospel from the deepest hinterland you can think of in the Cameroon rainforest to the grassland and riverine areas of our country. As they prepare for their graduation this December 2026, my earnest cry is for them to have a rechargeable mobile speaker. There are some in the market place now that can go for eighty hours of continuous preaching on a single charge. At 185,000 XAF, or $350 each, these would make great soul-winning gifts for our student preachers as a graduation gift. We presently have 14 men that are in training.

Brother Prince Edet, one of our foreign students from Nigeria, started his traditional rites to marriage. He will finish that up before our graduation. Please keep him and his fiancé in your prayers. She is a solid Christian woman. She will be a great help in his ministry.

My son Ray and I were in Nigeria a few months back for a one-week mission trip as I was invited to speak in a youth program in NCI. Ray is loving the preaching field. It is my prayer that he desires to know more from the Bible so that he will be able to help his friends and others in his generation. Please, keep him in your prayers, and pray that he will remain focused toward his dream of becoming a missionary doctor.

This month has been excessively busy for me. We were in Mbouda with the entire student body and some members of our congregation, at the National annual scholarship lectureship of the churches of Christ in Cameroon, organized by a Bible school in the west of Cameroon. I was one of the speakers and my topic was, “A Silent Killer of Christians.”

Just a few days after the scholarship lectureship, we welcomed 12 American missionaries into our Wotutu congregation for a program that lasted one week. They came from different walks of life to do a variety of good works here in Wotutu and then in Mbanga. One taught the book of James in the Bible Institute, some taught our children during our 2026 session of VBS, some were focused on evangelizing the crowds, some came to attend to the sick through a free medical consultation, and they all came to enjoy fellowship with the brethren here and enjoy the children of the Brightland Christian Orphanage. It was really a huge assortment of events. The name of the church is being projected again and again in our communities and to the government of Cameroon through these works. By the end of the week, hundreds of lives were touched, as people who cannot afford to see a doctor, had the opportunity to get free medical attention as well as prescribed medications given to them free of charge. The sick, the elderly, and the weak with all physical challenges, received rice and cooking oil that can sustain them for a while. Glory to God for all of these great services!

The local governmental authorities were very much aware of these gestures and they were also beneficiaries of some key spiritual things, as they had the opportunity to ask us about the church of Christ and to get to know us at a deeper level. We gave them Bibles, tracts, and supplements. God can always use the power of the gospel, to reach out to many, by exposing the truth that is still hidden from many.

Some of the Bible teachers from Hillsboro had a wonderful time teaching the high school girls in Wotutu, the holy writ. We thanked them for their sacrifice as they used many angles to see that the gospel could make its way into the hearts of these young ladies. Please pray for them, as we continue to do follow-up studies with them.

Hundreds felt relief from physical pains and regained some hope, as our sisters in Christ, came selflessly to treat and to counsel on many aspects of life, as they used medicines and scriptures to bring comfort and healing. What a blessing from above it was!

A total of 150 families with sickness among them, the aged, and some who face some physical challenges, received 5 kilograms of rice and some cooking oil as a kind gesture of our missionaries. Their one week stay in the Wotutu area was a replica of Jesus moving from one place to another doing good. Jesus fed the hungry, healed the sick, and comforted the broken hearted. We witnessed that in Wotutu! While patients were waiting to go see the doctor, some snacks were served to them to keep them going. The children, after studying the word in VBS, were also given snacks to eat to replenish their calories. All manner of love was so visible! All glory goes to God!

We had a daily chapel each day of the week at the end of the day's VBS lesson. The VBS and chapel attendance ranged from 412 to 522. The children who attended, learned about the fruit of the Spirit through the VBS and also by listening to the exhortation from the men of God who spoke during chapel.

God added a soul in Limbe, as one of the workers in the hotel where our missionaries were staying, accepted the love extended to her. The love of Christ was declared by sharing the gospel and one of the hotel workers decided to follow Jesus. A sister was added during the scholarship annual lectureship in Mbouda. Three precious souls were added into the church in Mudeka.
