FREETOWN EXTENSION PROGRAM

QUARTERLY OPERATION REPORT FROM MARCH-MAY, 2026

INTRODUCTION

Greetings to you our dear brethren and co-workers in the Lord’s vineyard. When we sent you our first quarter report on March 7, 2026, our concluding statement in that report was, “Until you get another update in June 2026, may the Lord keep you in good health.” Thus, it is evident that God has kept us all alive and we are here writing with exceeding joy to share with you our report for the second quarter of 2026.  We want to be sure that you are doing well in the Lord, our dear brethren, and that this report will encourage you to have a glimpse of what is going on here. Just like the full time program, we want to also mention that it may be very difficult to report all the minute details of all that is going on in the classroom and on the field. However, what you are about to read is the summary of some of the activities taking place here. Gratefully, we want to thank you for your support and for praying for us; may the Lord bless you all. As the second quarter ended, the Lord enabled us at the Freetown school to convert souls, establish a congregation, and build up and strengthen some congregations around the Freetown area. Please you are encouraged to continue reading as we give you more details under the following sub-headings:

STUDENTS AND ACADEMIC UPDATES

By the grace of God, all our 14 students in Freetown continued with their third quarter second year classes uninterrupted. They were all present for the graduation in Kenema in April and after that went on a month break and resumed classes on May 24, 2026. Currently, all the students in Freetown are males and some are married while others are not. Almost all of them are leading congregations around Freetown. We are building a strong team in Freetown and much will be achieved through them by the grace of God.

STUDENTS’ OFF CAMPUS ACTIVITIES

A.    Weekly Evangelism: Since our students are in class every Saturday, we have scheduled Friday evenings for their weekly evangelism outreaches. Usually, it is done at their local congregational level. This intensive activity helps them to be acquainted with the methods of field evangelism. It builds the culture of evangelism in our students, a unique thing which is lacking in the sphere of church work in Sierra Leone.

B.   Congregational Follow-Ups: Almost all of our students have been instrumental in following up on the new and weak congregations around the Freetown city. Many of them are assigned to new or weak congregations to build them up.

C.   Leadership and National Impacts: A good number of our students are effective leaders at the various levels in their congregations. For instance, some are youth ministers, children teachers, congregational preachers, Bible class teachers, etc. Nationally, some of them play certain roles for the growth of the church in Sierra Leone.

SUMMARY OF STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE SECOND QUARTER OF 2026

1.    20 Souls were converted

2.    6 Lectureships were held

3.    1 Congregation was planted

STUDENT’S PROFILE: Meet Abu Alson Conteh

Abu Alson Conteh, 26, was born on the 15th May, 2000 to Mr. Abu Conteh and Mrs. Isatu Conteh at Gloucester village, Western Rural, Freetown, Sierra Leone. Brother Abu is the first born of seven siblings.

Road to Christ:

Abu is one of those brethren who met his parents already members of the church of Christ. Therefore, he grew up in the church at Gloucester, the congregation that hosts our Saturday program in Freetown. Like all the children whose parents bring to service on every Sunday, he attended children’s bible classes regularly. After some time in his teenage years, he fell seriously ill and many people thought he wouldn’t make it. Fortunately, when he recovered from that long and frightful illness, he decided to give his life to Christ. So on the 15th of May 2019, after Bro Simon Peter Kamara, one of our current outstanding students, class representative and the leader of the evangelism team in Freetown, who was then the children Bible class teacher, approached and taught Abu the Gospel. Later that day, he was baptized and continued to serve the Lord in a proper way this time.

Brother Abu’s Impacts before and after His Baptism:

It should be noted that Brother Abu was very zealous before his baptism, and this zeal could be clearly explained especially when one personally knows how committed his parents are. His parents are few of those we have in the church in Sierra Leone that seriously take the upbringing of their children in the godly way. Therefore, Abu was taught by his parents how to take God seriously just like Timothy and his grandmother. Before he became a Christian, he was already going for evangelism (you can imagine a non-Christian going to preach to others that are not saved like him but does not really understand that he needed to be saved first), actively attending youth programs, cleaning the church auditorium; he had respect for Godly living, etc. When he later got converted, just like Paul, he carried that same zeal he had into the church.   Since his baptism, Abu has become one of those trusted, reliable and committed brothers in the church. He would frequently feature on the Lords table to assist in the officiating of the Lord’s Supper and Giving. Wednesday bible study and Friday prayer meetings hardly pass him by. Presently, Abu and his mentor, Simon Peter are taking care of one of the newest congregations (Mamudu Town Church of Christ) established in Freetown.

Road to Bear Valley Bible Institute:

When the school decided to have an extension program in Freetown, Abu was one of those who showed interest in the school. When the admission forms were announced, he quickly took one and filled it. However, after some time he wanted to pursue secular education, so Brother Simon Peter Kamara who baptized him, encouraged him to complete the course first before engaging in secular education. He happily agreed and now he is one of those committed students in the program.

To say that we are very blessed with Brother Abu’s addition to our Bear Valley family will be an understatement! We are just very grateful to God that we are co-workers together with a God-loving brother like Abu Conteh.

CONCLUSION

We are grateful to God that our students continue to make significant strides in their academic and extra-curricular activities. We are even hopeful that God through them will record many successes in the ministry as they continue in their Christian journey. Thank you for reading this report to this point.
