Impact of Freetown, Sierra Leone school felt in local congregations

QUARTERLY OPERATION REPORT FROM OCTOBER - DECEMBER, 2025

INTRODUCTION

The coming of the school to Freetown after a short period of time has proven to be a worthwhile initiative. The Bear Valley Extension program in Freetown is truly an effective tool for building up manpower for the city congregations.  And we are thankful to God that the academic and evangelistic work of the students and staff of the school continue to progress and make significant impact and progress on the churches of Christ and the spiritual landscape of Sierra Leone. On and off the classroom the presence of the school is being positively felt. Through God’s help, our students continue to make meaningful impacts in many recognizable areas of the Church. From October to the present, some souls were converted by our students, academic activities continued uninterrupted, and our students continued to be very engaged at their various local congregational activities. Please you are encouraged to read here for more details.

STUDENTS AND ACADEMIC UPDATES

Currently, we have 14 students in our Freetown program, and all of them come from six congregations. Nothing happened to any of them and they are all intact. The report from the local congregations regarding these students is just amazing.  Academically, they will be completing their second semester by the end of January 2026, Lord willing. We are grateful that they are committed to their studies.

EVANGELISTIC ACTIVITIES OF THE STUDENTS

The students in the school are showing great promise in their respective local congregations. They are fully involved in evangelism at their local congregations. They are contributing significantly to the growth and development of their congregations like never before. This sudden change is attributed to the influence of the school in their lives, they have attested. One of the successes of the school on the church is the ignition of evangelistic passion in the minds of the students. Every enrolled student is desirous and zealous for evangelism because the school operates robust evangelism programs. Souls are being converted and won to Christ due to these evangelistic efforts. Thankfully, our students are all immersed in this system. Therefore for the period of October to December 7, they converted 10 souls and conducted a series of evangelistic programs, lectureships in their various congregations. These significant evangelistic programs are yielding fruits to the glory of God. They continued to follow up on some new congregations planted and the new studies established.

STUDENT’S PROFILE: Joseph Momoh Turay

Joseph Joseph M. Turay, age, is one of our reliable students of the Freetown Extension Program which commenced at the beginning of this year. Born on the 27th June, 1979 at Gloucester village, Mountain District, Freetown, Sierra Leone, to Mr. Torroh Turay, and Mrs. Amie Turay.  Joseph is the second born of six siblings, three men and three women and now only four of them are still loving. Brother Joseph met his parents as members of the Church of Christ. From an early age he was attending the church. However, the negative impact of the war on the community pushed young men away from the things of God and like many young people at the time he too fell victim. In 2002, the war ended, and in 2008, he got baptized. Since his baptism, he began to grow steadily in the things of God. After some basic Bible studies and correspondence courses, he began teaching and preaching in the local congregation where he grew up, and evangelizing in the Gloucester Church of Christ.

Currently, Joseph is nurturing a young congregation that was established in 2022, through his evangelistic effort, the Smith Drive Church of Christ. Brother Joseph acknowledged that in order to add knowledge and proper understanding of the word of God he needed to enroll in the school. He was one of the first students to express desire to study in the extension program. “I seek sound biblical knowledge for impactful service in the congregations I work with,” he said in his interview. “The school is causing spiritual growth and now I am having accurate knowledge and understanding of the scriptures,” he added.  In addition to the biblical knowledge that he is gaining, Joseph holds a diploma in Procurement and Auditing at the IPAM (Institute of Public Administration and Management) University, Freetown. He is a zealous brother and an exemplary figure that is doing a lot for the Lord! Please remember him in your prayers at all times.

CONCLUSION

We are grateful to God that our students continue to make significant strides in their academic and extra-curricular activities. We are even hopeful that God through them will record many successes in the ministry as they continue in their Christian journey. Thank you for reading this report to this point. Until you get another update in March 2026, may the Lord keep you in good health!
