Two-week Trip to Ghana and Nigeria

I am currently nearing the end of a productive, beneficial, and encouraging 2-week trip to Ghana and Nigeria. So many great things are happening in the Kingdom in these countries and specifically, in the Bear Valley schools. They tell me that my visits are encouraging, but I am certain that I receive more than I give.

GHANA

Ghana Country Coordinator Kojo Acquah-Beenyi and I visited the school in Cape Coast and found a robust group of students who are so thankful for the opportunity that they have to deepen their knowledge of the Bible. I was even presented with an excellent book on the Proverbs, written by a recent graduate.

The next day I was blessed to be a part of the dedication ceremony at the new campus of the full-time school in Accra. On Sunday it was my honor to worship with, and preach to the brethren at the congregation that hosts the Accra East extended school.

Kojo and I were able to visit the Director of the school in Koforidua, Gyan Mante. He has recently had some health challenges and we wanted to encourage him. I finished off my time in Ghana the next day with a great visit with the Director and some of the students in Kasoa. They especially wanted to extend gratitude to those who financially make this possible. The Director sincerely asked, “Why would people who don’t even know us, give to make this possible?”

NIGERIA

From Ghana I went to Nigeria, the 6th most populous country in the world, which also hosts the most Bear Valley schools of any country in the world. It was a joy to visit with the schools in both Warri and Port Harcourt. The enrollment of these 2 schools is north of 60 students and they are so dedicated to improving their service to God.

We have also spent much time surveying the possibility of increasing the Bear Valley presence in Nigeria and the prospects are very exciting! More to come on that later.

Not everything is as we want it to be and this is why we are in regular contact via communication with the Directors and in-person visits. Various improvements are needed and will be ongoing. God is doing amazing things in these two countries and to Him be all the glory!
