Evangelism in Kenema, Sierra Leone

Bear Valley Bible Institute Sierra Leone

ACTIVITY OPERATION REPORT FOR MAY 2026

Full Time and the Extended Program

INTRODUCTION

We bring you greetings from Kenema, Eastern Sierra Leone. It is safe to say that anyone familiar with the truth of the Bible regarding salvation and the desire to study God's word will always be glad to hear that souls are being converted and men are being trained to preach the Gospel to the lost souls. It is this joy which we are experiencing here that we want to share with you again for the past month of May, 2026. Before May ended, our students continued to take their classes, the alumni continued to be very busy on the field, the evangelistic teams also kept on advancing the Gospel message and souls were converted. As you happily read further, we would give more details as follows:

SUMMARY OF CLASSES AND STUDENTS UPDATES

After our 4th graduation on April 18, 2026, our continuing students went on a month break and resumed classes on May 20, 2026. As you were informed in April, we have 3 sets of students here: senior full time students, junior full time students and part time students. It interesting is to note that while these students were on break, they kept on being actively involved in evangelism and local congregational activities. We received many encouraging reports from their local congregations, and this is so important to us since we are not just training lazy and irresponsible Christians. We thank God that He is working on the heart of our students to be focused on their calling.

CONVERSIONS RESULTING FROM STUDENTS' AND STAFF EVANGELISM

As the school exists to train evangelists, every member of our family is focused on bringing men to Christ. That is why every week after classes from Mondays to early Fridays, at the evening of Fridays to Sundays, we get involved in evangelism. There is a schedule prepared for this activity and it is truly helping to bring people to Christ, strengthen some weak congregations, and nurture some new ones. Therefore, in addition to the students' break evangelism fruits, before May ended,  seven (7) souls became saved.

CONVERSIONS RESULTING FROM ALUMNI EFFORT

Our 20 just-graduated brethren went and joined forces with the other graduates on the field and are also very busy on the field in carrying out the great commission. They are involved in carrying out the Lord's mandate in their various localities. So as a result, in May 2026, ten (10) souls were converted and ten (10) brethren were restored in the congregations across Sierra Leone.

CONVERSIONS RESULTING FROM THE EVANGELISTIC TEAMS EFFORTS

You are already aware of the active works of the evangelistic teams across the country. Therefore, their efforts resulted in seventeen (17) conversions. Apart from those being saved, the teams kept on strengthening and nurturing the various congregations that they are in touch with.

SUMMARY OF CONVERSIONS FOR MAY 2026

A.    The Students and Staff - 7

B.    The graduates - 10 conversions, 10 Restorations

C.     The evangelistic teams – 17 conversions

          TOTAL CONVERSIONS: 34

          TOTAL BRETHREN RESTORED: 1

SPECIFIC ALUMNI UPDATES

Please Note: This session was compiled by the Alumni Chairman who also doubles as the Dean of Students in the school here, Joseph Missialie Jr.

The graduates (alumni) of the Bear Valley Bible (BVBI) in Sierra Leone are working hard to help local churches of Christ grow, stay strong, and stay unified. These trained preachers and evangelists have dedicated their lives to sharing the gospel, helping churches stay organized, and caring for church members across the country

Core Ministry & Evangelistic Works

The graduates use a few main methods to support existing churches and reach out to new people:

Systematic       Visitation

Our graduates regularly travel to visit weaker congregations, and encourage members who live in isolated areas. This helps bring back member who have left church or have abandoned church activities

Constant       Follow-Up

Believing that care must continue after one's baptism, graduates focus heavily on after-baptizing support. Through regular visits, home Bible studies, and personal mentoring, they help new believers to stay active in their faith.

Seminars and Workshops

85% of our graduates are immensely involved in evangelistic team work and organizing spiritual programs. These educational events cover critical topics such as:

* Sound Biblical Doctrine

* Christian involvement and behavior towards the work of the church

* Marriage and the Christian Family

* Youth Empowerment and Spiritual Discipline

Conversions and Church Planting

Through public preaching, one-on-one conversations, and door-to-door visits, the graduates have brought many new believers into local churches. When communities grow large enough, they help start entirely new local church groups. Even though our own program is yet to begin in October we are immensely involved in all evangelistic works of the various across the country.

Church Administration and Governance

To ensure that numerical growth is matched by structural stability, the alumni have taken an active role in church administration. Key administrative focuses include:

·       Setting up clear organizational structures for services, finances, and outreach programs

·       Creating guidelines on member commitment, leadership standards, and Christian conduct – for example, Bro. Joseph Missailie recently drafted such a document for Burma III congregation

·        Managing church resources and properly to support long-term growth

Our Future Outlook

The alumni of the Bear Valley Bible Institute in Sierra Leone are successfully transforming their spiritual training into tangible kingdom growth. By balancing the zeal of evangelism (visitation, follow-up, and seminars) with the discipline of administrative leadership, they are laying a solid foundation for the future of the Churches of Christ in our different regions.

Moving forward, the alumni remain steadfast to our vows to labor in the vineyard, ensuring that the churches are not only growing in number but are also rooted deeply in sound doctrine and organizational excellence.

CONCLUSION

In summary, we pray that the Lord keeps us all to witness what will unfold in the sixth month of the year, June 2026. Thank you, our prayerful, purposeful and patient readers !

Your brother,

Peter Sahr Makundu,

Director,
