Students thriving in Benin City, Nigeria
Third Quarter Report of the Benin City Weekend Model Schools
Introduction
We give all glory and thanks to God for His continued blessings, guidance, and provision for the Benin City Weekend Model Schools. The third quarter of 2026 featured academic instruction, examinations, practical field work, evangelistic activities, and encouraging progress among the students.
Academic Work
During the quarter, the students studied the following courses:
The Life of Christ 3 (Luke)
Congregational Development
Critical Introduction to the New Testament
The courses were taught by Brothers Fidelis Daniel, Andrew Osatohamwen, Samuel Egboson, and Dunia Christopher. The instructors took turns teaching at the two centres, ensuring that students at both locations received the required instruction and guidance.
The academic structure of the Weekend Model Schools allows one course to be taught each month. At the end of each course, the students take an examination before proceeding to the next one. This enables them to concentrate on one subject at a time and provides an opportunity to assess their understanding before moving forward.
The students' performances during the quarter were encouraging and reflected their commitment to their studies.
Field Work and Evangelism
The schools continued to provide opportunities for students to apply their classroom training through practical field work and evangelism.
On August 22, 2026, the Benin City Weekend Model Schools, in collaboration with the Church of Christ, Oko Central, Benin City, conducted an evangelistic outreach. Staff and students participated actively, and one baptism was recorded as a result.
We appreciate the brethren at Oko Central for their cooperation and partnership in this important work.
Progress of the First Set of Students
We thank God for the progress of the first set of students admitted in October 2022, who are expected to complete their programme in October 2026.
A significant outcome of their training is their growing involvement in preaching and ministry. Some who were not preaching when they began their studies have now started preaching, while those who were already preaching have benefited from further biblical and practical training.
Efforts are also being made to encourage students who are not yet actively engaged in preaching or other ministry opportunities to put their training to meaningful use.
Importance of the Admission Process
The flexible nature of the admission process has been very helpful to the Benin City Weekend Model Schools. Because of this flexibility, we are able to enrol new students every month rather than waiting for a particular annual admission period.
This has made the programme more accessible to brethren who desire biblical training and has contributed to the steady growth of the schools, providing more opportunities for brethren to prepare for preaching, teaching, and Christian service.
Conclusion
We give all glory to God Almighty for sustaining and blessing the work of the Benin City Weekend Model Schools. We also deeply appreciate the Bear Valley Family for their financial support, resources, encouragement, guidance, and continued commitment to the development of the schools. Their support has contributed significantly to the continuation and effectiveness of this training programme.
