BVBI in Bloemfontein, South Africa, Continues to Serve

BVBI BLOEMFONTEIN QUARTERLY MINISTRY REPORT

1.0.  Introduction
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior. This report highlights the key developments, achievements, and ministry activities that transpired over the past three months. The institute continues to see steady progress as students actively apply their classroom training to strengthen local congregations. Key achievements this quarter include student-led ministry advancements, local church infrastructure development in Motshabi, and a highly successful cross-border combined service.

2.0.  Student Performance and Practical Ministry Impact

The faculty is highly pleased with the students' active involvement and leadership across their respective congregations. The practical application of classroom lessons is yielding tangible spiritual growth:

2.1. Youth Leadership: Student Brother Victor is successfully leading the youth ministry at the Universitas Church of Christ, driving strong engagement among the young people.

2.2. Women's Ministry: Three female students (Sister Mooko, Sister Sophie, and Sister Thakane) delivered impactful and uplifting lessons during a recent women’s conference held at the Universitas Church of Christ.

2.3. Cross-Border Ministry: Student Brother Johannes Mooko and his family visited the Maseru Church of Christ in Lesotho, where he preached a powerful sermon from 2 Corinthians 5 on living in the righteousness of God.

2.4. Equipping Leadership: Brother Ernest Plaatjie furthered his ministry development by attending both the Men’s Retreat in Abia, Lesotho, and the annual lectureship at the South African Bible College.

3.0. Women’s Month Commemoration

In celebration of Women’s Month in August—recognized in both South Africa and Lesotho—the Universitas church in Bloemfontein hosted approximately 20 women from the Abia and Maseru congregations.

3.1. Theme & Scripture: Focused on the theme of "Health and Wealth," the conference was firmly grounded in Matthew 6:33 and Genesis 2:15.

3.2. Outcome: The event fostered deep spiritual fellowship and mutual encouragement, showcasing a beautiful partnership in the Word between the women of Bloemfontein and Lesotho.

4.0. Infrastructure and Growth: Motshabi Church

Despite being established only 18 months ago, the Motshabi congregation is experiencing exceptional spiritual and numerical growth, heavily anchored by an active youth ministry.

4.1. Weekly Operational Schedule:

o Tuesdays: Women’s fellowship and prayer.

o Wednesdays: Congregational Bible study.

o Thursdays: Evangelism and outreach in the newly planted Thaba Nchu congregation.

o Saturdays: Youth edification and training.

o Sundays: Weekly worship service (Hebrews 10:25).

4.2. Facility Milestone: Operating previously as a house church, the congregation frequently faced disruptions when homeowners were away. To establish stability, the leadership coordinated with the local municipal counselor to secure a plot of land for a temporary structure. Funded entirely by member contributions, the church purchased poles and iron sheets to construct a small shed. While the facility cannot yet accommodate the entire congregation simultaneously, establishing a dedicated, neutral space to worship in spirit and truth marks a major milestone.

5.0. Lesotho–Bloemfontein Combined Worship Service

A major highlight of the quarter was a regional joint worship service hosted in Bloemfontein. Brother Johannes Mooko preached a moving sermon from Matthew 16:18.

5.1. Attendance: A total of 84 brethren traveled roughly 150 km from various Lesotho congregations, including Maseru, Abia, Teyateyaneng (TY), and Leseli.

5.2. Impact: The combined service concluded as an overwhelming success, providing immense motivation and spiritual encouragement to the smaller congregations in Bloemfontein.

Note: Due to health constraints, my family and I were unfortunately unable to travel with the group for this event, though we rejoice in its successful outcome.

6.0 Conclusion

We express our deep gratitude for the continued prayers, fellowship, and support that make these ministry milestones possible. We look forward to seeing how the Lord continues to use these students to expand His kingdom across South Africa and Lesotho in the coming quarter.

God bless you

In His arms,

Tawanda Mwadiya
