BEAR VALLEY INSTITUTE OF BIBLICAL STUDIES, TAMALE - GHANA
JUNE 2025 OPERATING REPORT
God’s name is to be praised for all the good things we experienced in the month of June 2025. Like the Psalmist said in Psalm 124:2-4; “if it had not been the LORD who was on our side when people rose up against us, then they would have swallowed us up alive, when their anger was kindled against us; then the flood would have swept us away, the torrent would have gone over us;..” The Lord indeed has been on our side as an Institute that stands for the values of Christ Jesus in all things that have happened, are happening, and are expected to happen in the future. All things are working together for our good.
We wish to report some of the events that have taken place in the month of June, 2025.
STUDENTS
Students are on break throughout the month of June. This break is very crucial and strategically meant to give them the opportunity to do their farming activities. As may be known to many of you, Northern Ghana is a hugely farming-dominated area, and many of our preachers and students use farming to aid themselves as they work for our Lord Jesus. We are expecting them back on 13th July, 2025.
VISITATION
Brother James Legend took the opportunity of the absence of academic activities to embark on ten days visitation to some congregations, preachers and students across Northern Ghana. This visitation was meant to create the needed bond between the Institute and brethren across Northern Ghana. It was also important in that it created an avenue for future recruitment efforts. This visitation was also necessary, and is needed as it helps identify what we need as a school to address some of the needs of congregations, preachers, and leaders, which will in turn help make the church stronger in Northern Ghana.
It was observed that there is a need for the school to organize seminars from time to time in some selected centers or areas to do vigorous teachings on topics like leadership, marriage, and Christian living. If it is also possible, the school needs to assist some of the leaders in some of the congregations where leaders can read with subsidized Bibles to aid their studies. One issue was also communion wine. If we could provide subsidized wine to some locations across Northern Ghana, that would be great. Some congregations take the Lord's Supper as and when it is available. If we could do something positive about it, that would be great. We really need to make visitation a regular tool in our activities. It helps us appreciate and know the real situations on the ground, and also bridge the gap between the school and the congregations.
An anonymous person who wishes his identity not be disclosed donated some 26 Konkomba Bibles to the leaders being trained at Zabzubu area. The Bibles were distributed on this visitation journey made by Brother James. We praise God as they were very excited about this blessing.
SCHOOL GARDEN
All forms of creative efforts are being made strongly with the produce from the school garden to complement the feeding of our students. We planted cassava last year and this year in some portions of the garden, where some are ready and have been harvested in the month of June, 2025. We used some to fry gari, and make cassava dough to support the efforts of the students’ feeding.
SCHOOL FARM
We started a farming project this year with the support of Brother Steven, to aid the Lord’s work in Northern Ghana and possibly Ghana as a whole in the future. We acquired a parcel of land in Tatale district, where we are cultivating rice, with the hope for good rains. We cultivated these lands in three batches. We did so because we considered the harvesting time. In order for us not to be under pressure during the time of harvest, we decided to do them in one week intervals. We pray God’s blessings upon our efforts. We also wish to thank Brother Steven and his wife and all who are doing their best to live a brighter future for God's Kingdom and work in Northern Ghana, Ghana, and the world at large.
God bless you.
Thank you,
James Legend
