BVBI in Abia St., Nigeria, Continues to work with Nigerian Christian Hospital for Outreach

REPORT OF THE NIGERIAN INSTITUTE OF ARTS AND THEOLOGICAL STUDIES/ BEAR VALLEY BIBLE INSTITUTE – NIGERIA NTIGHA, ONITCHA NGWA ABA, ABIA STATE-JUNE 2025

INTRODUCTION

The month of June witnessed a series of activities and the school is thankful to God for surviving another month with great expectations. To the Bear Valley family, we are grateful for the support. The congregations and individuals supporting the work at NIATS, just be assured that the kingdom is expanding by your support.

LIBRARY

The NIATS library is taking shape more and more. Besides the digital library, the hard copy books continue to increase. The school is grateful to Chad Wagner for more hardcopy books. The school purchased more scholarly books and has since improved the shelf quality. The librarian, Mr. John Abba, continues to be a good guide to the students. In the month of June also, besides the new books and the library materials (gum for book bidding, scissors, notebooks etc) that were bought, a new desktop computer was bought, including an extra system unit . One of the systems is connected to the printer. This will enable the librarian to copy and print off papers for the students. The second computer is there to teach the students the use of computers. This is to enable them to become computer literate and type their research works and other assignments by themselves. The excitement for the school community is much and encouraging. The school is grateful for all the support.

POWER SUPPLY

For some time now, the power supply has remained constant. The school and its environs have experienced about twenty hours (20) of power supply daily. This is a very wonderful experience in comparison with the usual epileptic power supply that characterize some Nigerian cities. However, the good news was short-lived by the handiwork of vandals who vandalized a high-tension wire. To this point, NIATS, the secondary school, the hospital, and the community around have been plunged into darkness again. However, the good news is that NIATS is no longer in total darkness. One of our beloved sisters provided funds for street solar lights. A total of twelve street solar lights were purchased and four polls were also bought. Although they are not enough, NIATS at night are lit. The students, teachers, and even the neighbors are all excited about the new face of NIATS, especially at night. One of the implications of the presence of the street solar lights could be a reduction in the amount payable monthly to Aba Power Holdings. The reason is that some of the non-solar lights will be switched off at night and the school will save energy consumption. Finally, the school generator needs fixing and the school is working hard to get it up and running.

ADVERT FOR NEW STUDENTS

The advert for new students continues. The school has five new candidates already who have picked the forms. Others have indicated interest. As such, the school has scheduled 18th of July for another intake exam, and finally, August the 15th will be the last one. It is hoped that all the interested candidates are accommodated. We are excited to welcome new students on campus on the said date. In fact, for the first time, the school advert included female students. This will be a great opportunity for sisters to come study the engrafted Word, which is able to make one wise. Please, pray for the interested students in order for them to be encouraged to come and study at NIATS.

NEW SESSION RESUMPTION

The new session is to take effect from the 12th of August. This is the beginning of a new academic calendar that runs from August to December for the first semester, and January to May for the second semester. The school community is highly elated about the new development.

EVANGELISM OUTREACH

The partnership between NIATS and the Nigerian Christian Hospital, Nlagu is a beautiful one. Students go out for evangelism, while the hospital joins in the outreach providing medical services. The school hopes to sustain this relationship and reach the communities and the world around us, both physically and spiritually. Moreover, the NIATS instructors and the director joined the WBS/Ocean bridge for enrollment of students in three schools on the 25th of June. It was an exciting moment with the students at Brilliance Comprehensive Secondary School Osusu, Isiala Ngwa North. It was a good experience trying to reach them young.

CONCLUSION

It is a great endeavor to serve in the kingdom of Christ. It is our earnest prayers that our labor will never be in vain.

In Christian love,

Solomon Usim

Director, NIATS
