Developments in school in Abia State

REPORT OF THE NIGERIAN INSTITUTE OF ARTS AND THEOLOGICAL STUDIES/ BEAR VALLEY BIBLE INSTITUTE – NIGERIA

NTIGHA- ONITCHA NGWA

OCTOBER 2025

INTRODUCTION

The month of October has come and gone. The constant support from various congregations and from the Bear Valley Family is a testament that the future is bright. The school is very grateful to everyone who remembers and contributes to the growth of the work in Nigeria and NIATS in particular. The work of building a sound training institution is a herculean task. A sound pulpit is a product of a sound preacher. A sound preacher is a product of a sound Bible college. The double helix model insists that since the churches need preachers, there is a great need for the churches to support the Bible training institutions.

The NIATS Family is ever grateful for this great sacrifice. May our loving Father bless everyone accordingly in Christ's name, amen.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

The students went on midterm break on the 6th of October and returned on the 12th. All assignments and term papers were due on the return from mid-term break. The assignments are rolling, and the teachers have many papers on the desk to mark and return. It is imperative to note that the instructors must be up and doing and marking, recording, and returning the scripts. Results must be promptly published to avoid unnecessary delays.

Having returned, class activities are on again. This will lead to the end of the semester. The examination timetable is out already, enabling the students to prepare in earnest. The examination would span from 27th of November to December the 5th. The school is hopeful that the semester will be completed without hitches. Your constant prayers are hereby solicited.

PROJECTOR

The school is especially grateful to Chad Wagner for the projector donated to the school. On Friday nights, the students gather and lessons from the World Video Bible School are viewed. Some of the controversial topics are presented here. Moreover, how to answer difficult questions during evangelism are also learned from Don Blackwell's lessons. The school is grateful for these tools. They are very helpful.

BAPTISTRY

In the month of September, two young men surrendered themselves for baptism. It was a wonderful moment. The struggle remains that they were taken up to the Nigerian Christian Hospital for baptism. The school is still hoping to have a baptistry within her premises.

BOREHOLE

The borehole from Healing Hands is still in expectation. The students still fall ill from time to time and not necessarily from mosquitoes but from drinking untreated water. It is hoped that the Borehole is built soon to enable the eradication of both typhoid and malaria. Gradually, the school is securing her best place.

LIBRARY

The school library is growing with new books and old ones restored. The library is not there yet. There is a need to fix the building considered for a temporary library. Moreover, it is hoped that more books will be bought and displayed for use. This is very important at this time because, when the students do not find relevant books, some of them rely on the use of AI to solve their assignments. This is not healthy for their research work at this time.

ON CAMPUS

It is also a cheering news that the Director of NIATS, Solomon Usim’s family have moved into the campus.  This is a welcome development. The stage is fully set for greater revival.

CONCLUSION

The school is grateful for the constant opportunity to review the affairs and to keep you updated with the happenings around here. The school is very optimistic that it will continue to get better each season. Thank you, and stay blessed.

Solomon Usim

Director, NIATS
