New school off to a great start

A Glance at Bear Valley Bible Institute Nigeria – Calabar Centre

The Bear Valley Bible Institute Nigeria (BVBIN) – Calabar Centre officially began operations in July 2025 as one of the extension schools of the Bear Valley Bible Institute International. The centre is located within the premises of the Church of Christ, 146B Old Odukpani Road, Ikot Ansa, Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria.

Under the able leadership of Dr. Nelson E. Akpan, the Local Director, the school started with a dedicated team of lecturers including Dr. Stephen Bassey Coco-Bassey, who serves as the Dean, and Dr. Okpan Clopase, a committed Faculty Member. Together, they have worked passionately to provide sound biblical education and spiritual formation for the inaugural class of 22 students.

Within just the first four months of operation, remarkable progress has been recorded both academically and spiritually. Students have shown visible growth in knowledge, ministry skills, and personal devotion, while the local church community has been revitalized through renewed interest in biblical training and evangelism.

The matriculation exercise, held on November 1, 2025, officially heralded the beginning of the Calabar Centre. The event was graced by the International Director of Studies, Dr. Kieth Karsarjian, who delivered an inspiring virtual address. During the ceremony, students sang the local anthem, recited the pledge, and signed the matriculation register, signifying their commitment to the pursuit of sound Bible education.

Through the first quarter of the institute’s evangelistic outreach, three souls were added to the Lord’s kingdom, reflecting the effectiveness of the training being received. The entire staff and student body are deeply grateful to God for this new beginning and appreciate the unwavering support of Brother Chad Wardner, the National Coordinator in Nigeria, Brother Tim Iwe, and the global Bear Valley leadership.

The future is indeed bright for BVBIN Calabar Centre. With God’s continued guidance, the institute looks forward to training more faithful men and women to serve as gospel ministers, Bible teachers, and elders in the Lord’s church throughout Calabar and beyond.
