Students in Nigeria hold Successful Lectureship

BVBIN OWERRI CENTER: QUARTERLY REPORT (MARCH-MAY) 2025

Calvary greetings to you all in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.

We are exceedingly grateful to God for using you and for your unalloyed support to us in equipping workers for our master’s work.

We will always remain grateful to God and we will continue to put in our best despite the challenges we are facing.

SCHOOL EVENT

We successfully had our matriculation in April, we also had lectureship with the theme: ELEVATED PULPIT, ELEVATED CHURCH which was well handled by bro Solomon Usim.

We also recognised and appreciated some brethren who have been very supportive of the school from Inception.

OUTREACH

We collaborated with preachers in Owerri to revive a congregation in in a place called Umuago in Imo state. This congregation was established, the traditional ruler of the community was converted, and he donated a piece of land to the church for church building. Unfortunately, the preacher that was there messed up and the congregation went comatose with only 4 brethren remaining. To the glory of God, the congregation has "risen from the dead" as it has grown to 16 members within April.

We are in search of a minister who will be stationed there, meanwhile we have a brother who goes there every weekend.

Also, our work aimed at reviving the congregation at MCC Urratta, a suburb of Owerri which also went comatose is progressing.

UPCOMING EVENTS

By June, we will be hosting a two-day preachers and church leaders workshop in collaboration with Amaigbo congregation with the theme: ELEVATED PULPIT, ELEVATED CHURCH.

This was the theme of the school lectureship and we feel that it will be highly beneficial to preachers and church leaders; that's why, in our quest to help as many as possible come to a better knowledge of scriptural things, we chose it. We have already pulled out several topics from the theme.

We have already gotten in touch with people like Bros Mike Udam, Solomon Usim, and others to be our resource persons.

STUDENTS

We have a total of 26  students now, those with commitment with regular attendance dangles between 14 and 16.

BAPTISM

Within this period, we had 3 baptisms in the Okigwe area through efforts of our students to the glory of God.

We want to sincerely thank you all for finding us useful. We assure you that we must keep the flag high, and your confidence in us will not be in vain while you pray for us.

May God continue to bless and keep you all as you work for Him.

Yours because of Christ

Students in Haiti continue working amid hardships

Haiti Report

The gangs control most of the Port-au-Prince and much of the country. The airport in Port-au-Prince remains closed to international travel, making it very difficult for anyone to travel to or from Haiti. During March and April, more than 1,000 people have been killed. In late April, the city of Mirebalais was attacked by the Viv Ansanm (Live Together) gang alliance, the 400 Mawozo, and a group calling itself "Taliban." The gangs broke into the prison, released more than 500 prisoners, and burned houses, businesses, and police stations. Hundreds of people had to flee their homes, but the gangs also blocked the roads leading out of the city. One of our former students was in the town at the time and had to flee for his life. It took him about ten days to return to Port-au-Prince, where his wife and children were waiting.

Early May saw violence in another part of Haiti where the school has been evangelizing; three congregations in the area have had to close for now. Several of the members and the preachers had their homes burned and fled the area when the gangs attacked. We pray they will be able to return in the future and continue the work of the church

The International School of Theology in Haiti continues to progress, even during these difficult times. The students cannot meet every day, but the classes continue. I have instructed them to meet when they can and always be safe. While it is not the best situation, God continues to use our students and faculty to open doors to share the gospel. They have planted new congregations, continued to teach the lost, and shared the good news of salvation. I am in contact with students, faculty, and directors two or three times a week. They have Joseph's attitude when he faced the dangers at the hands of his brothers: "You meant it for bad, but God meant it for good." God is in control, knows our difficulties, hears our prayers; HE has a plan.

Never stop praying for the work in Haiti.

Cambodia school continues to flourish

Dear Brethren in Jesus Christ.

First of all, thank you for taking the time to read this message and to look at the pictures. Your love, interest, and prayers mean so much to us.

We are especially thankful for brother Wes Autrey and Wayne Jones who recently came to visit us here in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Their presence was a great blessing. We thank God for their love, shown through the time and resources they gave to be with us. We were also deeply encouraged and strengthened by the sessions they shared from the books of 1 & 2 Peter.

The Bible school continues its mission to train and equip our students. Currently, we are studying the book of Exodus and the subject Fundamentals of the Church. It is a joy to see students growing in knowledge and in faith.

We humbly ask for your continued prayers regarding:

    • The church and the Bible school in Siem Reap to be growing in knowledge and in faith.

     • The work in Run Taeak city. This new town consists of natives who have been relocated by the government. They need food, prayers and especially hope for their salvation.  We are doing our best to provide each of these needs with weekly visits.  The crowds are growing bigger each trip and their interests are growing as well.

We trust that God will continue to guide, provide, and work through His people.

May the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus be with you all.

In Christ's Love.

Piseth Rin and Darat Run.

Co-directors of IBISR.

New school in Kara, Togo

March 2025 Report

Bear Valley Bible Institute – Kara, Togo (North)

Since February 24, 2025, a new Bible training school has officially opened in northern Togo: The Bear Valley Bible Institute – Kara TG. At its launch, the school welcomed 17 students, including one from Niger. Due to relocation preparations, several others joined a bit later, bringing the current total to 17 students, coming from Niger and Burkina Faso.

Two additional candidates were preparing to travel to Kara but had to delay their arrival because their wives gave birth the day before departure. Very soon, the full target number of 20 students will be reached.

Courses for the First Quarter

Four instructors are teaching this quarter:

·         ATOKI Nicodème

·         KPELEVI M.

·         BEDJELSI Fidèle

·         NYEMANTA Céphas

Subjects currently being taught:

1.       Survey of the Old Testament – ATOKI Nicodème

2.       French Language – KPELEVI M.

3.       God’s Plan for Salvation – BEDJELSI Fidèle

4.       Homiletics I – BEDJELSI Fidèle

5.       Singing in Worship – NYEMANTA Céphas

6.       The Holy Spirit of God – NYEMANTA Céphas

Evangelism

One of the main goals of every Christian is to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. With that in mind, the school immediately established a practical evangelism program. Every Friday, students go out for door-to-door evangelism, starting within the neighborhood where the school is located.

Special Evangelism Courses

To better equip students for this mission, special courses are included, such as:

·         Let the Bible Speak

·         The Good News

These classes are designed to prepare each student to evangelize effectively and to plant or establish new congregations during and after their training.

However, a shortage of biblical tracts (printed evangelism materials) has been noted during their fieldwork. Teachers will coordinate student evangelism efforts every Friday, accompanied by local evangelists, and seminars will be held to enhance the students’ practical ministry skills.

The Students

Most of the students are married and fathers. Those coming from outside the country have experienced some health issues due to the climate change. Notably, three students are over 50 years old, reflecting a wide range of ages and life experiences in this first cohort.

Challenges and Future Plans

A special program of evangelism, conversion, and teaching on denominational doctrines is currently being developed. The goal is to reach the entire population of Togo, especially in the northern regions, with the message of Christ.

Denominational Program:
Some of these students take part in early morning street preaching; they are already well equipped for evangelism. They are ready to reach the lost—those who do not know Christ and those who are in error. Every morning, from 7:30 to 7:55 AM, each person takes turns leading a devotion. Both students and teachers participate in these moments and highlight the areas that need improvement.

The linguistic accents of TEMBO Hebbo from Niger and TRAORE Souda Ahmed from Burkina Faso reflect their background. Both were Muslims before being converted through the denominational distance learning program. Little by little, the brothers are awakening to the errors of denominationalism, which this program helps to expose.

Please pray for the Bear Valley Bible Institute in Kara, that it may rise to meet the challenges in French-speaking West Africa. The institute is becoming increasingly international through its activities in the subregion. Students from the DRC, Gabon, and Mali are already preparing for the next training session. May all those who contribute to the advancement of the Lord’s work in the world be encouraged—your labor will not be in vain.

Successful Evangelistic work in Nigeria

Introduction

With a joyful heart and thanksgiving to God Almighty and the Bear Valley family worldwide, I present the report of the Bear Valley Bible Institute Nigeria – Benin City for the first quarter of 2025. This quarter witnessed a combination of enriching academic activities, field evangelism, and significant spiritual impact on local congregations.

Academic Activities

Students participated actively in classroom instruction, fieldwork, and spiritual exercises, including baptisms. Under my supervision, the following courses were taught:

The Book of Revelation

The Preacher and His Work

Church History

All courses were judiciously handled by our instructors, and examinations were conducted. The students performed excellently, demonstrating both academic and spiritual growth.

Evangelism

On March 29, 2025, students and faculty collaborated with the Church of Christ at Street 10, Idumnowina Road, Opposite Mother Mary Way, Upper Mission Extension, Benin City, for a community evangelism outreach.

During this exercise, Brother Fidelis Daniel, one of our instructors, shared a remarkable testimony. A woman who had been praying for God’s guidance to find the true church received the evangelism team warmly when they knocked on her door. Though she has not yet obeyed the gospel through baptism, she has since been consistent in attending services. We continue to pray that the Lord opens her heart to full obedience.

Impact

The Bear Valley Bible Institute – Benin City continues to make notable contributions to the Kingdom. Congregations are increasingly recognizing the value of our students, often appointing them as preachers.

A key highlight this quarter is the appointment of Brother Anthony Osadiaye, one of our students, as the full-time minister of the Church of Christ, Saint Saviour, Owie Road, Benin City. We give thanks to God and express our deep appreciation to the Bear Valley family for their support.

Additionally, our students maintain evangelistic efforts in their home congregations, which has led to a consistent increase in baptisms and local church growth.

Conclusion

We give all glory to God for the progress of the work in Benin City and express sincere gratitude to the Bear Valley family for their continued partnership and support.

In the name of Jesus Christ we greet you all as you endeavor to serve with earnest to save souis. The Lord has been good to us, we determine to promote His kingdom on earth. Lessons resumed in January 2025. The students were lectured on HERMENEUTICS, a component that the students really appreciated very much when it comes to the interpretation of the scriptures. For the field time, the students need to know tools to understand the Bible. The second component that the students were lectured on is Homiletics 1. They are just left with one week to finish this component too.

Students in class

About eight Preachers took turns in strengthening the leaders through various lessons under the theme "Practical Christianity Demonstrates Itself in ...." The class was highly interactive to the extent that teachers couldn't address all the questions of the participants due to factor. The participants asked for two days instead of the usual one for the meeting so that teachers can address their concerns more adequately.

BVBIU Ukraine Continues Good Works

Dear brothers and sisters,

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I would like to share with you the latest news and updates from the Bible Institute for the month of March.

Although classes officially started in April, in March our students were already actively involved in evangelistic ministry as part of their practical training. Each student served in their local church communities, sharing the Gospel and applying what they’ve learned in real-life ministry.

Since the beginning of the academic term, students have already completed the following courses:

  • The Epistle to the Romans, taught by Dmytro Halyuk

  • The Epistle to the Galatians, taught by myself

  • Currently, they are studying the Book of Revelation, taught by Volodymyr Paziy

We are truly grateful for your prayers and support. Terry Harmon is currently in Ukraine and is actively involved in ministry in Uzhhorod and Chernivtsi, serving the local churches and encouraging believers.

We are also pleased to share some encouraging news—three potential new students have already expressed interest in enrolling for the next academic year, and we expect a few more to join them. This year, we also have two graduating students, and we rejoice in their growth and dedication.

Looking ahead, we are planning to expand our program. We are praying about adding:

  • Specialized classes for women

  • Additional training in youth ministry and how to develop and strengthen youth work in the local church

These additions address urgent needs within Ukrainian churches and will equip leaders to serve more effectively.

We also continue to pray for the end of the war in Ukraine. There  are hopeful signs, as world leaders have begun to discuss possible peace scenarios. This gives us encouragement and may very well be an answer to our persistent prayers. Sadly, missile attacks continue, and many civilians are still suffering. Nevertheless, we trust the Lord and believe He will bring peace in His perfect time.

Please continue to pray for BVBIU, our faculty, and the local churches we serve. We are blessed to have a strong team of experienced and dedicated preachers. Your prayers for their strength, wisdom, and ongoing ministry are deeply appreciated.

In closing, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your ongoing partnership. Thank you to each of you who supports the Bible Institute through your prayers and financial gifts. Over the past three years, Ukraine has endured tremendous hardship, but our American brothers and sisters have not forgotten us. Your faithfulness is a powerful testimony of Christ’s love.

With love and gratitude, Sopelnyk Denys.

Students in Lima, Peru Continue their Studies

BVBI-Peru Progress Update

Trusting in the Lord that everything is going as smoothly as possible in your homes and ministries, I am writing these notes to update you on the progress of the extension program here in Lima, Peru.

In January and February, the institute taught the courses "Pastoral Epistles" with Brother Abraham Alata and "Fundamentals for the Missions" with Brother Andrés Núñez.

In March and so far in April, we are teaching "AT4 Major Prophets" with Andrés Núñez and "AT5 Minor Prophets" with Juan Abanto.

We are close to concluding this two-month period and are preparing to begin two new courses: The Work of the Preacher and Biblical Geography (May and June).

It has been a very rewarding four months studying the Word of God with our brothers and sisters. Two new students have been added to our program, and we are counting down to the conclusion of the second round of the 2022-2025 training program. With the Lord's favor, we will begin the next round shortly. In the meantime, we remain committed to the Biblical education of our brothers and sisters, confident that they will use the information and knowledge to the fullest extent in their respective ministries and congregations.

During the months of January and February, we helped two congregations with workshops on homiletics and the Christian home, which allowed us to interact directly with the congregations and their members.

As additional information, I want to share with you that our congregation in Villa Alejandro, with the help of a group of missionaries, held a campaign in which our teachers and a group of our students were involved. This resulted in eight baptisms and approximately 70 contacts to continue studying the Scriptures. It has been a wonderful opportunity to continue serving the Lord. We'll keep you updated with new information soon. Best regards and hugs from afar!

In Christ, Juan Abanto from Lima, Peru

Graduation in Kara, Togo

OPERATING REPORT BEAR VALLEY INSTITUTE KARA-TOGO (1st quarter 2025)

 EXTENDED PROGRAM ; BVBI-KARA-TOGO

INTRODUCTION

All churches of Christ of Kara (north of Togo) join me and my family to send you all the congratulations, encouragements, and greetings for your great desire and love to keep helping us through this Bible School to strengthen the spiritual capacity of the brothers to better help the local churches to achieve the goals of the Great Commission. We continue to pray for you so that we all have the courage to continue working together until the end of the training of these students. This will be an effective means in the process of reducing Satan’s kingdom by the conversion of the souls. In this overall vision to reduce the kingdom of Satan, our Lord will always be with us for good results in the future.

OPERATING REPORT

1-    The current number of students: 6

2-    The courses already taught the first quarter 2025:

a-    Biblical Doctrine : by KAGNON Luc

b-    Church Development : by TALAKI Nicodeme

c-     1, 2 Timothy and Titus : by BEDJELSI Fidele

3-    The courses that will be taught during the second quarter 2025

a-    La Mission de l’Eglise : by TALAKI  Nicodeme

b-    La vie du vrai disciple de Christ : by KAGNON  Luc

c-     Hermeneutics : by BEDJELSI  Fidele

4-    Instructors’ meeting:

Teachers discussed the impending end of classes at the end of June.

Together, the teachers testified to the willpower, courage, loyalty, and zeal of these 6 students. They underlined the hope that these students give in the future to form a solid group with other evangelists to enlarge the kingdom of God in the conversion of lost souls.

5-  Congregational Activities:

a-    Worship and edification

Now the students have reached a level of maturity to help effectively, and we continue to send them out to churches to help with Bible teaching and worship on Sundays. With these students, we continue to work towards the goals of the Great Commission. We continue to strive for the establishment of new and mature assemblies in the future that will have the ability and capacity to establish other assemblies. We continue to organize and support every assembly in its door-to-door evangelism program. The influence of denominations and Muslims in our area is a challenge. The organization we put in place for teamwork and the teaching of Biblical truth helps us to convert people who truly seek Biblical truth and want to be saved.

b-    Door-to-door program

We regularly organize this program of door-to-door work with the effective support of students and other evangelists, and with the involvement of other assembly members. Each church is helped in turn to increase digitally. We also organize corporate prayers to strengthen members’ faith and implore God’s assistance in all our programs. With this program, we have baptized a total of 5 people, not counting those baptised during our evangelisation campaigns: 2 women baptized in Lama, 1 woman baptized in Soumdina Pida, and 2 people baptized in Kara-University.

c-     Campaigns:

We organised two evangelistics campaigns involving other evangelists in two new localities: Lassa Lao and Tchitchao Kigbeleng. Overall, we baptized a total of 19 people, including 8 in Lassa Lao and 11 in Tchitchao Kigbeleng. We salute the efforts and zeal of Missionary Steven, who financially supports these evangelization campaigns and enables us to achieve these results. This quarter, we baptized a total of 24 people. Let us pray for these Christ-born for their submission to Christ and their spiritual growth.

d-    Seminar:

From 9 to 11/4/2025, we organized a seminar bringing together a number of Leaders and evangelists around the general theme of Leaders’ unity and cooperation. There were 26 participants, all were very satisfied with the content of the teachings. This seminar resolved a major problem that had long divided evangelists in the north. A sub-theme on how to manage conflicts made it possible to resolve this problem.

e-    « Read and speak kabiye program » :

This program is helping participants to read and understand the Bible. All participants are delighted with the program. It’s also an effective weapon in a door-to-door evangelism program, because people speak only kabiye and by reading the Bible directly in kabiye, people enjoy listening to it.

f-     Radio Program

The Radio program is an excellent tool for preaching the gospel to a wider population. Despite the rejection of Biblical truth due to the influence of the denominations, some listeners approve of these teachings based on biblical truth. Currently, we have returned to preach again on the denominations’ radio station/Missionary Radio. They have installed high-performance equipment to carry the message far and wide. Let’s pray together for this program, which is helping us to gradually reach some members of these denominations.

g-    Graduation at Kpalime:

We took part in the graduation ceremony for the latest class of outgoing students at Kpalime. The full-time training school in Kpalime has now been moved back to Kara, and began on February 22nd, 2025. This school will help a lot to expand the number of rescues in northern Togo. Let us continue to pray for the students and teachers. May God be in control of this school for the good training of its students.

In Christ,

Fidele.
