Practical teaching in Togo

ACTIVITY REPORT

Bear Valley Bible Institute – Togo

Report Date: July 7, 2026

We thank Almighty God for His protection, grace, and faithfulness throughout the month of June 2026 and during the one-month academic break that followed. This period marked the successful completion of our first academic term and provided valuable opportunities for ministry, instructor development, and strategic planning for the future of the Institute.

The last two weeks of May were devoted to intensive review sessions, followed by final examinations during the final week of the term.

We sincerely thank our sponsors and partners whose continued prayers, encouragement, and financial support make this ministry possible. Your investment continues to produce faithful servants equipped to proclaim the Gospel throughout Togo.

 I. Academic Activities and Practical Training

The first academic term was completed successfully through the dedication and sacrifice of our instructors. Beyond classroom instruction, every Friday our teachers accompanied the students into the field for evangelism and practical ministry.

This combination of classroom instruction and practical ministry remains one of the greatest strengths of the Bear Valley program. Students immediately apply biblical principles through personal evangelism, Bible studies, and service within local congregations.

By God's grace, these efforts resulted in two baptisms during the month. These conversions encourage both the students and instructors and remind us that the Gospel continues to bear fruit through faithful teaching.

The instructors continually evaluate classroom methods in order to improve the quality of biblical education and prepare students not only to possess biblical knowledge but also to become competent evangelists and church leaders.

II. Ministry Activities During the One-Month Break

Although classes were suspended from June 1 through June 30, 2026, ministry activities continued actively.

Students remained engaged in local congregations where they:

·         assisted local churches,

·         preached and taught,

·         participated in evangelistic outreach,

·         gained additional practical ministry experience.

Many students also visited areas where they hope to establish future congregations after graduation. They conducted surveys, met local residents, and identified opportunities for future evangelistic campaigns.

These field experiences will help us organize future church planting efforts based on real needs observed during the break.

III. Three-Day Teachers' Seminar at Kpalimé

One of the most significant activities during the break was a three-day teaching seminar held in Kpalimé on June 4, 5, and 6, 2026.

Brother Fidèle and I participated together in this important training.

General Theme

The Seven Laws of Teaching

The purpose of this seminar was to strengthen the teaching abilities of Bear Valley instructors by emphasizing biblical and effective educational principles.

Because of the great importance of this material, we decided that the content should become more than simply seminar notes.

Our objective is:

·         to use these materials as instructional resources for both instructors and students,

·         to encourage every participant to take careful notes during each lesson,

·         to gradually develop complete course manuals (booklets) for every subject taught at Bear Valley Bible Institute.

At the completion of each course, students will receive the corresponding booklet, allowing them to retain an organized reference library for future ministry.

We believe this initiative will greatly improve the quality and consistency of instruction while strengthening long-term biblical learning.

Because this seminar proved extremely valuable, we hope to organize the same seminar in Lomé so that all Bear Valley instructors throughout Togo may receive the same level of pedagogical training and maintain a unified teaching standard across all extension schools.

 IV. Student Development

We continue to be encouraged by the attitude of our students.

Many of our students are older men who have accepted the challenge of returning to school in order to prepare themselves more fully for Christian service.

Despite their age and personal responsibilities, they demonstrate remarkable humility, discipline, perseverance, and commitment.

Their conduct has become a positive example for the younger students, showing that spiritual maturity is reflected not only in knowledge but also in diligence, humility, and faithful service.

This healthy relationship between older and younger students contributes to an atmosphere of mutual encouragement and spiritual growth throughout the Institute.

 V. Resumption of Classes – Second Academic Term

Classes resumed on July 3, 2026.

Second Term

The following seven courses will be taught:

1.      Biblical Geography — Cephas

2.      How We Got the Bible — Kpelevi

3.      Old Testament 5 – Minor Prophets — Nicodeme

4.      Marriage and Family Life — Cephas

5.      Pastoral Epistles — Kpelevi

6.      Church History — Fidèle

7.      Hebrews — Fidèle

These courses are designed to deepen students' biblical understanding while preparing them for faithful leadership, sound doctrine, and effective ministry.

 VI. Continuing Mission Work

During the break, Brother Fidèle and I continued coordinating evangelism activities with teams working in:

·         Southern Togo,

·         Bassar,

·         Kara,

·         Dapaong.

We also met with leaders in Kpalimé who oversee a denominational teaching program that cooperates with some of our educational efforts.

Following productive discussions, we agreed to provide them with appropriate teaching materials that will strengthen the continuity and effectiveness of their biblical instruction.

These partnerships continue to expand the influence of biblical teaching and create additional opportunities for evangelism throughout Togo.

 VII. Looking Ahead

As the Institute continues to grow, we remain committed to improving both academic excellence and practical ministry training.

Among our current priorities are:

·         improving instructional methods,

·         developing complete course manuals,

·         strengthening practical evangelism,

·         preparing future church planters,

·         providing continuing education for Bear Valley instructors,

·         maintaining doctrinal unity throughout all Bear Valley extension programs in Togo.

These initiatives will contribute to the long-term effectiveness of the Institute and the churches it serves.

 Conclusion

The completion of the first academic term, the continued ministry during the academic break, the successful teachers' seminar, and the faithful service of both instructors and students demonstrate God's abundant blessings upon this work.
