Dedication to win souls in Wotutu, Cameroon

Dearest in Christ,

Greetings from this part of the globe. It is with great joy that I come before you with what has made news in the work that is going on here. We pray that this report finds you well. We are also doing better here although with many challenges. I was attacked by serious malaria, but by His grace, I am back on my feet.

The month of April is characterized with many unforeseen things in the life of the school and in the Wotutu congregation. One of our students was attacked by a stroke. His recovery from this great shock is in progress. The price of gasoline is still alarming, which is making our evangelistic efforts harder. Our generator, as well as our van, needs gasoline on a daily basis now as the electrical power is very epileptic.

Our planned mass mission work to the Difenda Blaue village came up and we were good to go after checking on security issues. We drove the school van for 7 hours toward Difenda Balue and then continued our journey on motorbikes to get to the village. The road is rough, but because we think souls. We must go for souls!

Difenda village is known for their deep sense of idolatry and ancestral worship. Almost everyone in the village is associated with a JUJU cult as you can see. For them, it's fun to be associated with this cult and they have no time for, nor reverence for God. We knew about their pagan practices and so we went praying that by His grace we could win some souls for Christ.

We took boxes of gospel tracts from Mission Printing. We took, “The Churches of Christ, “Who are These People?” What Must I do to be Saved?” “The Good News and Seven Ones,” and many more gospel tracts to help expose Christ to this beautiful community who have not known since the village was founded in 1964.

As we made our way to the village, we went first to the chief. We quickly saw that it was a very big village, with a population of over eight thousand inhabitants. We made known to the chief our purpose of coming in following the great commission that our Lord gave us in Matt 28:18-20. He welcomed us, and told us to feel free in the community. We gave him a copy of a Bible. He is a learned man, so he will be able to read the scriptures. We started with house to house evangelism. The people were very hospitable, but at the same time, it seemed strange for them to see us moving up and down with tracts and Bibles as we shared the love of Christ with them. Some of them gave us food after listening to the word. They asked all kinds of questions about our topic of discussion, which was the plan of salvation and how salvation is free.

We preached Christ and Him crucified. It was strange to most of them but some had heard of Christ passively from some of their narratives. Please pray for this community and the neighboring communities. It is very evident that THE FIELD IS REALLY RIPE AND READY FOR THE HARVEST. WE JUST NEED TO LIFT UP OUR EYES! John 4:35

As we welcomed questions from our prospects, some saw the need to know more, and to make a new decision in their lives that would change them from the ardent ancestral worship that they were so much involved in. God added nine precious souls into His church from the village of Difenda. Many more are getting ready to see the new life which is in Christ Jesus. A total of sixty-four community members, and leaders, came and worshipped with us. We begged someone to allow us to use their veranda for a place to worship. Please, I am Oliver Twist! I will continue to plead for what will help the church in Cameroon.

This is the big crowd that came and worshipped with us and they expressed satisfactions with the New Testament way of worship. Please keep this congregation in your prayers, because it will stand like a mother congregation, that will give birth to many others. The potential is truly there!

After a military recruitment, the government will handguns and other equipment over to the new soldiers. In Christ, we were blessed to fully equip our new brothers and sisters with Bibles which is a weapon that is more powerful and more important than guns. Please keep them in your prayers, as they will go and call others to come, and enjoy this fellowship, as they walk away from their ancestral worship.

    PLANS

We need to continue the nurturing of this congregation on weekly basics to keep the spiritual fire going in the area.

   APPRECIATIONS

Thanks very much for all you do and for all of your prayers! The small wooden building for the Mandongo congregation is already under construction. May God be with you always. Please share our report with others.
