Freetown, Sierra Leone school a beacon of light
Bear Valley Bible Institute Sierra Leone
FREETOWN EXTENSION PROGRAM
QUARTERLY OPERATION REPORT FROM JANUARY- MARCH, 2026
INTRODUCTION
The School in Freetown continues to make significant progress. On and off the classroom, the impacts of our students are being positively felt. Through God’s help, our students continue to make meaningful impacts in many recognizable areas of the Church. In the first quarter of 2026, some souls were converted by our students, academic activities continued uninterrupted, and our students continued to be very engaged at their various local congregational activities. Please you are encouraged to read here for more details.
STUDENTS AND ACADEMIC UPDATES
Gradually, the time is flying and our students are moving ahead. Our students started their second year in February 2026. All of them (14) remained intact and committed to their studies. Nothing happened to any of them and we are grateful to God for His sustenance.
STUDENTS’ OFF CAMPUS ACTIVITIES
A. Weekly Evangelism: Since our students are in class every Saturday, we have scheduled Friday evenings for their weekly evangelism outreaches. Usually, it is done at their local congregational level. This intensive activity helps them to be acquainted with the methods of field evangelism. It builds the culture of evangelism in our students, a unique thing which is lacking in the sphere of church work in Sierra Leone.
B. Congregational Follow-Ups: Almost all of our students have been instrumental in following up on the new and weak congregations around the Freetown city. Many of them are assigned to new or weak congregations to build them up.
C. Leadership and National Impacts: A good number of our students are effective leaders at the various levels in their congregations. For instance, some are youth ministers, children teachers, congregational preachers, Bible class teachers, etc. Nationally, some of them play certain roles for the growth of the church in Sierra Leone.
SUMMARY OF STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2026
1. 13 Souls were converted
2. 5 Lectureships were held
3. 1 Congregation was planted
STUDENT’S PROFILE: David Makaray Sesay
David Sesay is one of the consistent and committed students of the Bear Valley bible Institute Freetown Extension Program. He was born on the 9th March, 1993 to Mr. John Sesay and Musu Sesay at Lungi town, Port Loko District in the North western province of Sierra Leone. His father is a teacher while his mother is a petty trader. He is the first born of three children. He is married with a child.
Road to Christ
David was born in a Wesleyan church family; therefore as a child, he only attended the said denomination. Growing up on the streets of Lungi, he got exposed to rough and bad street life. But later, his interest in Christianity began to grow as he became mature and aware of the dangers street life posed to him. In the course of time, in 2019 specifically, some brethren from the church of Christ Grafton in Freetown went to his community and handed him a tract titled, “By What Authority Are You Doing These Things.” The questions in the tracts troubled his young conscience and he wrestled with the ideas he discovered in the tract. Thus, he called for the brother who gave him the tract, Bro Albert Bangura for further discussion. After answering his questions to the point that he got convinced, he decided to give his life to Christ. After his conversion, he kept requesting for new tracts and information that settled every doubt he had. Later, he introduced the church and the doctrine of Christ to his family. And today, some have accepted the faith while others are still struggling to accept it completely.
In February 2025, David was added to our Bear Valley family, and since then, he has proven to be a sober minded Christian. His academic performance, discipline and moral character are consistent to that of a sound Bible student. Currently, he serves as the assistant preacher at the Grafton congregation in Freetown, the congregation that converted him.
CONCLUSION
We are grateful to God that our students continue to make significant strides in their academic and extra-curricular activities. We are even hopeful that God through them will record many successes in the ministry as they continue in their Christian journey. Thank you for reading this report to this point. Until you get another update in June 2026, may the Lord keep you in good health!

Peter Sahr Makundu,
