BEAR VALLEY INSTITUTE OF BIBLICAL STUDIES, TAMALE - GHANA
SEPTEMBER 2026 OPERATING REPORT
The faithfulness of God continues to keep us safe and sound as we continue to work for His kingdom. September was a very busy month for us in Tamale as we continued with the work of God. Below are some briefings of activities that took place in the month of September, 2026.
ACADEMIC WORK
Students resumed back to school on the 19th of September 2026 to continue with their academic activities. All students reported within the scheduled time. Lectures started on the 20th of September, and one course was completed while the second course began on the 28th of September into the first week of October. The first course they did was Logic and the Bible, which was done by James Legend, while the second was the book of Galatians, taught by Emmanuel Ulanja from Salaga. They are scheduled to break for this term on the 25th of October 2026, and then return for their last quarter on the 16th of November, 2026.
VISITATION AND RECRUITMENT
We continue to work effectively on visitations and recruitment activities, planning to have the next academic year start in January 2027. We have made some very good positive responses as we have had over 20 forms picked by interested people. We are currently doing some major follow ups and collection of forms while mopping up some areas we have not touched yet. Our minimum target is to have 12 faithful students, who will be productive for the Lord’s work.
While we recruit students for the diploma course, we are also recruiting another class of people for potential leadership training, as well as denominational members for a conversional program respectively. It is our hope to have different kinds of programs going on in the Tamale evangelists and preaching school next year. We had earlier intended to start some of the programs towards the end of this year, but we have released it if necessary things are properly arranged and for that matter, we have shifted most of the additional programs to next year. It is our hope to bring in some two supporting staff to help with the work next year hopefully. Things are gradually working out positively to position the school in a very good standing in the near future.
CONVERSION: As we continue with our follow ups and recruitment activities, we are also taking that opportunity to preach the gospel to lost souls. In the month of September, while visiting some locations in the Savannah Region and some parts of Northern Region, we had four souls converted and added to the Lord’s church. One elderly man from the Savannah Region and three young boys from the Zabzugu area. We give God the glory for these successes.
EVANGELISTIC WORK
Evangelistic teams are warming up towards the dry season evangelistic campaigns. Some of these teams have some challenges with their sound systems, while some working evangelists need motor bikes to aid their work. We are grateful to brother Steven Ashcraft for making some funds available for us to purchase a sound system and a motor bike for the Zabzugu team. Brother Francis Satenja was originally proposed to receive the motor bike in the Zabzugu team, but after critically analysing the situation and those in need of motor bikes, we saw Joshua Foki to be in a more difficult situation in terms of mobility for the work. So, we have concluded to allocate the motor bike to Joshua for now, with the hope that in the future, when there is another opportunity, we can consider Francis.
Also, on the issue of the sound systems, two additional sound systems were purchased from local funding, that is from our rice farm proceeds. It is unfortunate that the prices of food produce are very low, and we hope this project will grow to become a major source of funding for the work in Ghana. We hope to add some fruit trees to have several alternatives. One of the sound systems will be given to the Nadundo Team, who are having some challenges with their sound system, while the other will be stationed in Tamale for the students to use for mini campaigns in strategic locations in Tamale township.
LEADERSHIP TRAINING
Two leadership training centers were able to host training successfully in the month of September, 2026. These centers include the Zabzugu training center and the Lawra training center respectively. These programs are very essential in building up faithful men in their local language to support the growth of the Kingdom. They also serve as a channel for us in the area of recruitment. Another leadership training center has been created at Gob-Kukani, which will be hosting their first leadership training in the month of October. We also hope to start another one in Kulkpene under the Yendi area in January by the grace of God.
PIGGERY
As reported in past reports, brother James Legend raises some animals and chickens in the school, and one of the animals are pigs. The main idea and aim of the piggery is to help in producing meat for the students in the future, and also, to be given to working and needy preachers and graduates in Northern Ghana to aid themselves and as a source of indigenous support to help them do the work of God in their various locations. By far, we have piloted five passed students who are working preachers so far, and three have succeeded, and we hope to roll it out fully in the nearest future. Self-supporting as a preacher is the best and surest way to maintain stability in doing the Lord’s work. And we hope to aid many working evangelists to become self-dependent.
We pray the good Lord sees us through in all the plans we are putting in place.
Thank you, brethren,
James Legend
