School in Abia State, Nigeria continues to Grow

REPORT OF THE NIGERIAN INSTITUTE OF ARTS AND THEOLOGICAL STUDIES/ BEAR VALLEY BIBLE INSTITUTE – NIGERIA

NTIGHA- ONITCHA

SEPTEMBER 2025

INTRODUCTION

The month of September has come and gone. Glory be to God almighty for the amazing grace through the month. For the Bear Valley Family and various congregations supporting the work at NIATS, we are thankful for your loving kindness. For everyone praying for the school, we are grateful.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

Academic activities have continued to take shape. The new students are getting used to new study patterns. Mr. Boniface Ochoche introduced the course on Research Method. The Modern Language Association (MLA) is the documentation style adopted. Everywhere around the school, the new students talk about plagiarism. This is a new word some of them learnt in the research method class. Mr. Boniface is also helping out at the library. Thus, the nexus between learning how to document and also finding the relevant materials from the library. Besides the class on research method, there is the study of the origin of the Bible. Mr. Akokwu is also helping the students to navigate the course on “How we got the Bible.” That is also exciting for them. On the part of the graduating class, they were introduced to their long essay writing. Various lecturers have also been assigned to each student. The project writing is a very important requirement for their possible graduation in May 2026.

HOSTEL

Hostel A has a level of comfort. The windows have been fixed, and mosquitoes have been reduced to the barest minimum. Incidents of malaria are fast becoming a thing of the past. We are grateful for the monetary support from Bro. Chad. The challenge remains with the expected borehole. It is expected that the new borehole from Healing Hands International, when installed, would provide treated water for the school community. That will also take care of the constant typhoid fever problems that come from drinking untreated water. Moreover, Hostel B requires some attention. We pray that the Lord sends us help to that effect.

LIBRARY

With the growing number of books and the presence of the digital library, there is a need to fix the building for the temporary library. This will enable the students to have space. It will also make way for the library books to be properly arranged and ventilated. Some of the books are not displayed. Thus, the need for space. Moreover, the space is needed to enable the computer section to come alive fully. There is great need for more computers. Very soon the student would have to type their research papers as well as the long essays.

BAPTISTRY

It is interesting to note that people’s interest is renewed with the experience at NIATS. In the month under review, a man from the community came to the school and requested to be baptized. Mr. Douglas Ochui and some students preached Christ, and Him crucified. The man was later baptized. However, the challenge is that the school does not have a baptistry. Thus, the man has to be taken to the church at the Nigerian Christian Hospital to be baptized. It is hoped that as the students resume active evangelism, more souls would be baptized. Please keep NIATS in your prayers as we hope for the better.

STATISTICS

The intake exam yielded twelve students. This is a step in the right direction. We have nine students in the year 2 class. Thus, a total of twenty-one students. We are grateful for the support. The environment continues to retain its greenish coloration, especially with the rainy season. These new students are enjoying the conducive environment.

CONCLUSION

We are grateful to God Almighty for the grace to be in the master’s service. Report writing gives one the opportunity to look back on the activities of the past month with a new resolve to do better in the next month. We request your prayers for a peaceful academic year.

Thank you, and stay blessed
