About Scott
Scott was born May 5, 1964, in Sacramento, California. His name at that time was James Voll. Shortly after his birth, he moved to the Fort Worth area. In 1968, he was adopted by Buddy and Peggy Busbee, and his name was changed to John Scott Busbee. He attended Bedford, Watauga, and the Pipeline Road Church of Christ. He met Lavonda at Watauga Church of Christ when he was five and she was four. They were part of a tight youth group that made many great memories together. They attended there until Scott was 16 and then moved to the Pipeline Rd congregation. At that time, he lost track of Lavonda. Scott was a gifted singer and musician. He loved to sing, lead songs, and give devotionals in church from the time he was an early teenager. He also loved playing and building guitars. Scott attended L. D. Bell High School, where he excelled in theater, choir, and musical productions, including South Pacific. Scott graduated in 1982. He married Joyce and had their daughter, April, in 1986, followed by Robert in 1994. Scott’s love for his family was only second to his love for God. Sometime after Joyce passed, he reconnected with Lavonda and eventually married her. Scott was an example to many and displayed many characteristics that everyone should strive for. He always saw the best in people and never spoke badly of anyone around him. One of Scott’s most memorable qualities was his infectious and deep laugh. He loved playing guitar in his free time and enjoyed singing a cappella and leading congregational singing. For many years, he enjoyed working with the youth at his home congregation and loved helping them prepare for L2L. Scott lived a life dedicated to the Lord, attending the Bear Valley Institute in the fall of 2024 to further his impact on the kingdom and become a preacher at the time of his passing.
