Busy in the Lord’s business in Mozambique

Introduction

The first quarter of the year is past and our school is grateful with the progress that we have registered to date. Four courses have been finished successfully and the performance of many of the students has been fairly pleasing and commendable. The fifth course is still in progress. Our students are busy with different activities in their respective congregations and we are excited with the impact it has had in these congregations. The school is currently scouting for a fairly big piece of land to acquire or lease so that we can start on major projects that we have in our plans in the hope that we can become full time. Our black Astrolop stock of  birds has just started dropping eggs. We are soliciting prayers for Mai Gutu (Brother Bothwell Gutu’s wife) who has not been feeling well for a while.

 1.0 Our Curriculum Progress

The courses that have been done in this year include Acts of the Apostles, Hermeneutics, The Gospel of John and Introduction to Computers. The exams were written and some of  them are still being  graded.

 2.0 Personal Evangelism II

Personal Evangelism is in progress and being handled by Owen Ruraca. This course has only those who did well in their previous Personal Evangelism I. This course is now practical with the students working with different congregations under the oversight of Owen Ruraca. The course involves the creation of files with details on work and records. The Director does the moderation.

 3.0 Congregational Activities

The school has made visits to Manica, Messika and Chimoio making reports on the progress and sharing future plans. The congregations in these places were excited with the progress they have witnessed in the students they have been with. There has been some innovations in evangelism work, new weekly programs and organization of worship services. The school has also been encouraging the students to log all their activities on their activities forms for our statistics. The preachers and church leadership will also help us with confirmation of the truthfulness of these activities by putting their comments and signatures on the forms.

 4.0 School Plans on Projects

Your school with the help of the local congregations have started looking for land for leasing or acquiring. This land will go a long way toward self-sustenance of the school. The school is grateful that the church seems to be embracing the vision of a bigger church in Mozambique. The church and the school have agreed that a full time setting will yield greater results in the production of preachers from all over the country and all walks of life. Our current setting of an extension program has shown this fact through the work that has been started. Yet the extension program has been accessed by only those in Manica Province and only those along the Forbes-Beira road. This is too insignificant a number in a population of +/- 9 million people in the Province of Manica and over 33 million people in the ten provinces of the country. We pray that the vision may come to fruition in due course.

5.0 The Black Astrolop Birds Progress

The current Black Astrolop birds on our campus have just started dropping eggs. Your school had to dispose some of the corks because the number was bigger for the hens. With the funds, the school bought an older cork and some other eggs for hatching. This is meant to increase our parent stock. Our current incubator will produce meaningful profits when its over three quarters full.

6.0 Prayers Needed

We are soliciting for prayers for our brother Owen Ruraca who has been battling with cancer for a while now. We are just thankful that the Lord has taken him this far against the prediction by the doctors. We call upon the brethren that may be moved by his condition to assist his family with other medications and special needs as well. Owen and Eunice are asserts in your institutions.

We are also asking for prayers for sister Tatenda Gutu (Bothwell Gutu’s wife) who has not been feeling well since the beginning of the month of February. She has been battling with asthma and an apparent pneumonia. The asthma attack resulted in a miscarriage. The young couple is still to recover from that shock and loss and we are praying that they may walk through their grief smoothly. Bothwell is running and leading our projects and finds himself at the campus most of the time.

 7.0 Meet Our Students

Flavio Januario Guenova

Flavio Januario Guenova was born on the 22nd of April 1996 in the district of Chimoio in the Manica Province. He is born in a family of seven kids. He was baptised on the 20th of March 2011. Flavio is married to Rosa nee Pedro. The couple is blessed with two kids. Flavio is self employed in the taxi business. The family worships at 7de Abril congregation in Chimoio and have plans to start a new work in Bairro 5. Flavio is one of our new students from Chimoio and he is a self-motivated young man who has so much passion for God’s work.

Conclusion

The first quarter of the year is now past and our curriculum is moving slowly. The recent courses done include the Personal Evangelism II course which is still in progress. The course is a practical course that will stretch to the following year and deals with an number of things that include administration. Our students are doing very well in their respective congregations. Your school has visited different congregations in the Manica Province making reports and creating rapport with them. The exercise has been fruitful and has created shared visions. The church and the school will work together toward the movement to a full time setting. The Black Astrolop birds on the campus have started dropping eggs and we celebrate this development. We need prayers for a quick recovery to our sister Tatenda Gutu and mercy for Owen who is battling with cancer. We need to pray for peace in the Middle East which has been torn by wars from the Iran conflict.
