Pressing on in Ukraine
Dear brothers and sisters,
Greetings in the Lord, and thank you for your continued support and prayers.
We are grateful to God that the ministry of the BV Bible Institute Ukraine continues. At present, we have 6 full-time students and 3 part-time (distance) students. All students attend daily classes via Zoom. Despite ongoing challenges with electricity outages, heating issues, and difficult living conditions, the students have remained faithful. In most cases, they were able to participate in live classes; when not possible, they watched recorded lessons, which we regularly upload to our YouTube channel.
Toward the end of March, the situation has somewhat improved due to warmer weather and longer daylight hours. Power outages have become less frequent.
We kindly ask you to continue praying for our teachers who are currently in Ukraine. They face regular checks on the streets, and those without proper exemptions may be taken into military service. As you know, some of our students and graduates, as well as many Christian brothers, have already been drafted. The war continues, and it is difficult to foresee when it will end.
We would especially ask you to pray for our student Nikolai. He was taken in October and, during his military training, suffered serious health problems, including loss of mobility in his legs and spinal issues. He has gone through a long period of rehabilitation. Please pray for his recovery and strength.
During February and March, the following courses were taught:
• Minor Prophets (Part 1) – Denis Sopelnyk
• Prophet Isaiah – Denton Landon
• Wisdom Literature – Denis Sopelnyk
• Book of Job – Dmitry Galyuk
Please also pray for Terry Harman, who is planning to travel to Ukraine in April. Pray for his safety and for meaningful visits with brothers in Uzgorod, Kyiv, Brovary, and Bila Tserkva.
We are deeply thankful for the humanitarian ministry carried out by local churches. Please pray that the Lord would strengthen them, sustain their efforts, and grant growth. We are also very grateful for the support of our American brothers who continue to help these ministries.
Looking ahead, we ask you to pray for the future of the Institute and for new students. At this time, we have two potential students for the upcoming academic year. Please pray that the Lord would continue to bring those who desire to study His Word.
Thank you for standing with us in prayer. We are grateful to the Lord for His protection, and we ask for continued strength and endurance for all believers during this difficult time.
In Christ,
Denys Sopelnyk
