ACTIVITY OPERATION REPORT FOR JANUARY 2026
Full Time and the Extended Programs
INTRODUCTION
What a way to end a year and to begin another year! The New Year has begun on a very positive note; the ministry of reconciliation continues to bear fruits. We are very hopeful that 2026 is going to be a very successful year. We do have high expectations that the Lord will do a lot again for His kingdom in Sierra Leone. In January, classes resumed, the students and the staff went on an evangelistic campaign and planted a new congregation, more souls were converted by our graduates and the evangelistic teams on the field, and Steve Ashcraft, the West Africa coordinator visited us. Here is more information on the highlighted activities.
SCHOOL RESUMPTION
On December 21st 2025, our students went on a festival break and were expected to resume on the 10th January, 2026. Therefore, we are thankful to God that all of them resumed and continued fervently with all the activities of the school. We sincerely covet your prayers for our students, especially as Satan does not want anyone to serve God. Please pray that he should not even come closer to our students.
EVANGELISTIC CAMPAIGN AND THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A NEW CONGREGATION
The need to save souls in our contemporary times is so evident and pertinent as if it has never been before. One of the reasons is that many people are lost in sin to the point that if one doesn’t preach to them, they are heading for destruction. We know (KBVBI) that it is for this reason that the Bear Valley Bible Institute International benevolently brought the opportunity to us here in Sierra Leone to further carry the message of salvation to those dying souls. In light of this, the school administration, in the month of January, directed its campaign efforts to a new territory at Weima town, Panguma District. Weima is one of those towns inhabited by the majority Muslims (As it is the case with the whole of the Sierra Leonean society).
HOW WE WENT TO WEIMA
Our attention was drawn to the Weima community by one of our evangelistically zealous students, Mohammed Koroma (he was a Muslim before we converted him in 2022) who shall be graduating soon, Lord willing. Weima is Mohammed’s hometown and desired that a congregation be planted there. He had been living in Panguma, the District’s headquarter town, but plans to relocate to Weima upon his graduation in April, Lord willing. At his request, we planned a week-long campaign at Weima, and we thank God that we honored that invitation.
THE FRUITS FROM THE CAMPAIGN
Before the week of the campaign, a staff (Joseph Missailie Jr- Students’ Dean) and Mohammed himself made a ground preparation visit at Weima in order to adequately arrange to host the team that would later come to preach Christ. This visit was so timely and rewarding; logistics were put in place and the visiting team (Joseph and Mohamed) made concrete arrangements with the chiefs and some Weima inhabitants. Therefore, on January 26 to 31, a 15-man team left Kenema for Weima. Once the team was on the ground, we rested and visited the community leaders and other stakeholders to ensure that our presence was recognized as custom demands in this part of the world. At the end of the campaign, the following were achieved:
· 21 souls were converted (8 females and 13 males).
· 800 tracts were distributed.
· Many prospects were identified for further study.
· A New congregation was established.
Since it is a new environment entirely, we faced some challenges of accommodation and others. But with God being on our side, and with all long suffering and perseverance, we were able to endure till the end. Please pray that we will be in good health to consistently follow up the new congregation established till her members can grow to stand on their own.
SUMMARY OF CONVERSIONS FOR JANUARY 2026
A. The school had 22 conversions
B. The graduates had 10 converts
C. The evangelistic teams had 21 conversions
THE TOTAL CONVERSIONS WERE 53
STUDENT’S PROFILE: Emmanuel Kalokoh
Emmanuel, age 20, was born on the 3rd April, 2005 at Tankoro Chiefdom, Kono District, in the eastern province of Sierra Leone. He is a Kono by tribe, short and fair in complexion. His father is Dawda Kalokoh, a commercial driver and his mother is Mary Kalokoh, a business woman. He is the second born of his parents. He has two younger sisters, and an elder brother. His sisters are still in school while his brother is doing business in town.
Conversion and His Journey to Bear Valley Community
Emmanuel was born in a Christian home (both parents are Church of Christ members), until 2021 when he decided to be baptized at Ndomahina congregation in Kono. Since his conversion, even as a young boy, he has always served in one capacity or the other; he gathers hymns after worship every Sunday. Moreover, he joins sisters to sweep the auditorium and goes out for evangelism week after week.
Brother Emmanuel was inspired by the graduates that left Bear Valley from his congregation in 2024. In his congregation back home, 5 brethren (Alex Bockarie, Emmanuel Ansumana, Steven Ansumana, Fatorma Kamara and Patrick Manga) graduated and returned home and have since been so impactful. Therefore, Emmanuel, being someone who loves to serve, desired to come to Bear Valley to be equipped for better service. With this mindset, he was admitted in June 2025 as one of the freshmen in our first year junior full time class. He has not spent more than 3 quarters but has been going out for evangelism with the senior students. We have a lot of confidence in Kalokoh that he would be a great vessel for the Church in Kono and the nation at large. Please keep him in your prayers for us.
OUR COORDINATOR’S (MR. STEVE ASHCRAFT) VISIT
On January 17, we were blessed with the presence of Brother Steve Ashcraft, our West African coordinator. We are always happy whenever he visits us in person because we get to discuss a lot about the work that is before us. During his one week stay with us, he taught the senior class the Historical Bible Geography, held meetings with Kailahun and Bo evangelism teams (we had other schedule to travel to Conakry, Guinea to meet with the brethren there that was why he could not meet with the other teams in Sierra Leone except Bo and Kailahun). During those meetings, the team members appreciated Brother Steve for his sacrifice and the love he has in supporting the evangelistic activities in Sierra Leone. The team members were encouraged with his presence and motivated to continue doing the work of evangelism for the growth of the Lord’s church in Sierra Leone. On the other hand, Brother Steve also expressed his gratitude and shared his good ideas in helping the teams to achieve a greater result.
UPCOMING GRADUATION
We have planned to have our 4th graduation exercise from April 2 – 4, 2026. If the Lord wills, we will be graduating two sets of students: full time and part time. We invite you all to be part of the convocation.
CONCLUSION
Thank you for reading this report to this point. May the Lord provide more opportunities to continue to be useful in His service! Till we come your way again in the 2nd month of the year 2026, Lord willing, stay blessed and loved by God.
Your brother,
Peter Sahr Makundu,
Director,
Sierra Leone Bear Valley Bible Institute
