Good progress in Mozambique

 1.0 Introduction

We are in the last quarter of the year as we strive serving our God faithfully. More courses have been completed successfully with another still in progress. We celebrate ten months of feeding our students with lunch meals on Saturdays. IBBVM is now a member of the ABSA (Association of Bible Schools in Africa). The school has participated in the Gweru Bear Valley Bible Institute Preachers’ Retreat and Graduation in the month of October. Your school has been part of the Manica Church leaders’ meeting held at Messika. IBBVM also participated in the WBS seminar held in Chimoio in the month of October as well. There are developments taking place at the new school property in Garuzo. Our Black Austrolop project is progressing fairly well with two new batches. Meet our student and his family from Chimoio.

2.0 The Curriculum Progress

Our latest courses were The World Religions, I and II Corinthians, The Prison Epistles and Worship. The World religions covered included Islam, ATR, Hindu and Christianity as the major ones with largest numbers of recipients in Africa. Scientology was treated as well with special attention given to its recent invasion in the younger populations. The course on Worship was covered with some case studies in real services. The course on I and II Thessalonians is in progress. The year will close with two more courses. The feedback we are getting from our students is awesome and encouraging. The motivation in the students is pleasing. It is our prayer that it may be even with the few who seem to be struggling with their academic work.

3.0 Students Welfare

Our school is still an extension model type of school with face to face lectures on Saturdays for eight hours. With the economic backgrounds with most of our students, the eight hours were terribly long. This is because many of them could not afford a decent lunch meal at our only break at midday. This seemed to affect much of our last four hours. Your school sought friends and partners to cushion up this need. We celebrate eleven months of feeding our students with lunch meals on Saturdays when they come for their studies. We are grateful to our friends for their unwavering support with this important donation.

Eunice has been handling that part of work and she has done it so well. We pray that she may continue to give this service to your school.

4.0 The Visit to Gweru

Your school was invited to participate in the annual Preachers’ Retreat and Graduation in Gweru BVBI. There was a lot of excitement in this visit. In June 2026, some of our students had an opportunity of mixing with some staff and students from our sister schools. This was partly an exchange programme for our students and staff as well. Almost all our students would have loved to be in Gweru. Unfortunately, some were not able to travel due to lack of funds. Your school met half of the cost to those who managed to raise the other half. We had a total of six students who traveled to Gweru with two women and four men. One of our students spoke during chapel session and Owen Marange taught on the relationship between the state and the church. The events served as an educational trip as well to our students with a lot of fun at the Retreat.

5.0 Creating Rapport With The Local Church

Your school had the privilege of being part of a Church Leaders meeting in Messika on 19 September 2026. There were several leaders from the province of Manica and a handful from other provinces. Your school was given an opportunity to do a presentation of its work and how it will shape the future of the church in Mozambique. The participants at this meeting were happy with the new developments and promised to participate and encourage young men to enroll at the school. Your school was also invited to another meeting in the province of Nampula in the far North. We would love to be part of this meeting if resources permit as it will provide another bigger platform of selling our school for enrollment. The brethren from the Manica province have proposed to have at least two students from each of the other ten provinces to enroll. However, this is still yet to be decided by your school as this will require facilities to house these students and activities for the other days of the week.

6.0 The Association Of Bible Schools

In April 2026, we were part of a meeting of Bible Schools in Southern Africa that was held in Mutare and hosted by Mutare School of Preaching. The meeting had a proposal of an Association of Bible School in Africa. Among the schools were our sister Bible School in Zimbabwe and Africa School of Bible Missions from Bulawayo in Zimbabwe. After the second meeting on 21 September 2026 we can confirm that we are now a full member of the now ABSA (Association of Bible Schools in Africa). The Association is exclusively a churches of Christ oriented grouping that shall collectively guard issues of doctrine among other things in Bible Schools. In the Association, we are holding the position of the secretariat in the General Assembly until at some point in the future. We are also going to oversee the sub-committee on Events and Missions. We are confident that this Association will give us a platform for growth and exposure.

7.0 The WBS Seminar In Chimoio

Tim Brumfield, in charge of International Relations in the WBS, who works with the Portuguese speaking communities in Africa came to Chimoio in October to hold an 11 day seminar on a series of 12 Let God Speak lessons. He also invited us to be part of this seminar and we were happy to be with our students there as they learnt how to use this tool in preaching and reaching out to yonder communities. The seminar was attended by men and women numbering over 90. The school invited Tim to visit us at our school to deliver some lessons. We were happy to have him on our campus teaching the Thessalonian correspondence. The school is planning to hold a similar seminar in partnership with WBS in November this month in Manica. We need your prayers for its success.

8.0 Developments at the New Site in Garuzo

The new property in Garuzo has been one of our most celebrated acquisitions ever since our existence. We are currently putting a security fence on the property so that it should be through by the beginning of this coming agricultural season. Given resources we have plans to construct some temporary shelters for housing a caretaker there. The school has plans to put more structures in future for housing distant students, piggery and our chickens in the near future. The school is likely to purchase some of the spaces around our property given resources and a positive dialogue with the occupants.

9.0 The School Black Austrolop Project

So much has happened between our last report and this report. We managed to connect water from outside the incubator so that we wont have to occasionally open it during incubation to add water. Occasionally, we were alerted by a temperature alarm to add water. This had its own risks in the process of incubation. The system is now working perfectly well with a forty liter bucket installed on top.

Your school also bought the Azola weed seedlings to start its own production of the Azola weed for supplementary feeds for the birds. Given resources we would have bought a minimum of 3 kg to start with. However, we could only afford a kilogram to start with. The weed is currently doing very well and we look forward to making bigger ponds for it in future.

We now have two more batches of younger birds to add on the first parent stock. We are hoping this will place us at a better position to produce the chicks for sell as in our initial plan of the project. The other batch is turning four months while the younger one is just a few weeks older. We are looking at an average of +/- 200 laying birds at a time.

Your school also has just started producing the maggot fly for feeds as well. We are hoping these efforts will go a long way in reducing production costs on feeds.

10.0 Meet Our Student Abdul Estevao Andre Cesar

Abdul is a 32 years old married man. He was born in Chimoio where he did his primary and secondary education. Abdul did his Bachelor’s degree in Educational Psychology at the Univeridade Pedagogica de Mocambique. He is married to Olga Beca and the couple has been blessed with two girls Kiara and Gael who are 6 years and 4 months respectively. The couple worships with the 7th Abril congregation in Chimoio where they were baptised. The family has been also assisting with another extension work from 7th Abril. Abdul is self employed. He started his studies with your school in January 2026. He has hopes of serving as a full time minister in remote areas in Mozambique.

Conclusion

The academic progress is pleasing to date with a few courses left in the year. We are praying for our partners to continue with their support in the welfare of our students. Our trip to Gweru was an eye opener to our students. The WBS seminar provided a platform for our students to learn and we are hoping to get instructors to train teachers in the near future. The school’s relationship with the local church and other Bible schools in the region has positive outcomes in the future of the school in Mozambique. We have started doing developments at the new school property and hope it will assist in the growth of our current projects. We desperately need your prayers as we progress in different areas in your school.
