Report on the School of Theology – May to October 2025
1. Introduction
The School of Theology began its first term in May 2025, marking a milestone in advancing biblical education and spiritual growth within the Church of Christ in Bermuda. Operating under the Brighton Hill Road Church of Christ and in partnership with the International School of Theology (IST), the School aims to deepen scriptural understanding and equip members for effective Kingdom service.
Official Opening Ceremony – September 14, 2025
The official opening of the School of Theology in Bermuda took place on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the Brighton Hill Church of Christ. The event was graced by Brother Larry Waymire of the International School of Theology, and Brother Keith Kasarjian, Director of International Studies, of the Bear Valley Bible Institute. Their presence underscored the importance of this partnership and the shared commitment to equipping the saints for ministry in Bermuda and around the world.
2. Class Demographics
From May to October 2025, the School hosted a balanced and dedicated group:
Gender: 50% women, 50% men
Congregations: 94% from Brighton Hill, 6% from West End
Age/Experience: Majority over 50 years old and long-standing Christians (10+ years)
Attendance: Averaged 16 students per class, with consistent participation
3. Programme Format
Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays (6:30–8:30 p.m.) and Saturdays (9 a.m.–1 p.m.). Overseas instructors teach via Zoom, while students meet in person at Brighton Hill. Sessions are recorded for later review, ensuring flexibility for those unable to attend.
4. Course Highlights
Term 1 – The Book of Matthew (May):
Facilitator: Bro. Larry Waymire — Provided a strong foundation in Christ’s ministry through the Gospel of Matthew.Term 2 – History and Formation of the Bible (June):
Facilitator: Bro. Waymire — Explored divine inspiration, the Holy Spirit’s role, and archaeological evidence affirming Scripture’s authenticity.Summer Break (July–August): Rest and reflection period.
Term 3 – The Book of Acts (September):
Facilitator: Bro. Akeem Joseph — Brought fresh insight as a former IST graduate, emphasizing spiritual growth and practical application.
Official Opening: Held September 14, 2025, attended by Brothers Larry Waymire and Keith Kasarjian, affirming IST’s partnership and shared mission.Term 4 – The Book of Mark (October):
Facilitator: Bro. Kingsley Burch — Focused on Christ’s miracles, compassion, and endurance, inspiring renewed conviction among students.
5. Upcoming Term
Term 5 begins November 4, 2025, with Brother Thaddeus Bruno (West End Church of Christ) as instructor, continuing the School’s mission of deepening biblical education.
