Sierra Leone school is organized and effective

INTRODUCTION

We are here again with the exciting news of the spread of the Gospel in Sierra Leone through the impact of the Kenema Bear Valley Bible Institute. As mentioned in our previous report, we are in a challenging period to share the Gospel as it rains almost every time. But the good news is that the good work of the Lord continues.  In the month of July, our full time and extended students continued their classes, souls were converted, and an evangelistic campaign (with the aim of establishing a congregation and nurturing a young one) was conducted. Below are the details of the highlighted activities.

STUDENTS’ UPDATES

Without much words, we want to let you know that all our students were intact for the past month of July. We had few of them that fell sick but God healed them before the month ended. We said in June that we covet your prayers for us, and we are saying again in July that do not relent to pray for us, because we know that without them, we would not progress in any way.

EVANGELISTIC CAMPAIGN AT TOMANJU AND WEIMA

The school sent a fifteen-man team from the 25th July to 30th July 2026 to Tomanju and Weima communities. These villages are 80 miles away from Kenema where the school is located. The Weima Church of Christ which was established by the school in February 2026 and has been nurtured by students and one of our recent graduates, Mohammed Koroma. The aim of the campaign was to strengthen the young congregation and seek the opportunity to evangelize new villages around the Weima town. The staff and students who made up the team were very excited and optimistic that great success will be achieved during the trip. Upon arrival at the town of Weima, we visited the community leaders to register the team’s presence and pay respect to the chief as custom demands. The felicitations and pleasantries were well received by the community chief and he provided the team with accommodation for some members of the team and our equipment. As we started the work, the team was divided into groups of three to spread in the community to preach Christ, share tracts and invite the local residents for the evening open air preaching and gospel film show.

Meanwhile, the community of Weima had another neighboring village called Tomanju where some church members were coming from, so some groups were sent there. At the end of the campaign, the following happened:

•           12 souls were converted (6 from Weima and 6 from Tomanju)

•           A new congregation at Tomanju was established – Tomanju church of Christ

•           The Chief in the community agreed to provide a piece of land for the construction of              the church

•           Joint worship service was conducted between the Weima Church of Christ and the     Tomanju Church of Christ.

We have included those two congregations as part of our mission territories where our students and staff will be going to help nurture and build up the young congregations and to continue to evangelize the area. We will not rest until, “All have heard” as always said by Brother Keith Kasarjian.

A STUDENT’S AUTOBIOGRAPHY: William Saidu

Today’s attention is focused on a student who came to our school as a security, and the rest, they say is history. As you read further, please let me talk a little to you about William Saidu. William Saidu is a brother who came to our school to look for what to eat with his family, and providentially he got eternal food – salvation of his soul. Brother William, 56, was born on the 15th April, 1970 in Njama Kowa Chiefdom, Moyamba District, southern Sierra Leone. He was born to Mr. Emmanuel A.J. Saidu and Madam Musu Saidu. William is the third of five siblings. He has four children and he lost his wife fifteen years ago.  Educationally, he did his primary school at the United Methodist School in Kenema and then proceeded to the Government Secondary School Kenema where he sat for his O’ Level Certificate in 1988. After his secondary education, he went and learned masonry. In addition to this, he has been a farmer all through his life as if he was born on a farm.

Road to Christ and Bear Valley

William is one of the three (the others are Betty Kalon and Samuel Chokpelleh. All these are faithful brethren today and are all our students) security agents that have been converted while serving at our school. It was in 2023 that our administration approached Williams’ then employing security agency, Universal Security Agency, for the security services. Luckily, Brother William was posted to us. He came to the school while being a Catholic member. In the course of time, our staff, Peter Makundu and Michael Triyoh preached to him and eventually became converted. Since then, he has not relented. Currently, he is the song leader at our campus congregation. Because of his zeal, he was being encouraged to enroll at the school to build himself up to evangelize the world, a rare opportunity that he hastily grabbed. Since we have known Brother Williams three years ago, we have never regretted knowing him. We thank God for his life!

CONCLUSION

As I conclude this report, I want to say a big “Thank you” for reading through to the end. Thank you for your kindness. The lives you are changing in Sierra Leone here through your prayers, financial support, guidance and direction, are all duly acknowledged, and may the Lord bless you richly. Till we meet again in August 2026, may the Lord keep you healthy!

Your brother,

Peter Sahr Makundu,

Director,

Sierra Leone Bear Valley Bible Institute
