Latin American Theological Institute
Guatemala City, Guatemala
The Instituto Teológico Latinoamericano (ITL), or Latin American Theological Institute, began classes on April 13, 2009, under the direction of Hawatthia Jones and Byron Benitez, missionaries in Guatemala City, Guatemala for eleven years. After serving as missionaries in this Central American capital city for many years, brethren Jones and Benitez saw the need for a school to teach faithful men to preach the Gospel, and began working with Bear Valley to make this dream a reality. Now, the first class of students is set to graduate from the two-year program April 3, 2011.
ITL is currently in the process of purchasing land and building their own facility. The estimated building construction coasts are $250,000.00. Once completed with student dormitory should reduce student cost (currently running $300/month for a single man) since the present situation requires renting student housing. Also, the school library needs expansion. Many good books are now available now in Spanish. They can be purchased in Guatemala and in the States. One time donations of $3,000.00 to $5,000.00 would provide a good library for student research.
