Wagner Mission Report - July 2011

July 25, 2011

Greetings in the Name of the Lord!  I pray that you and the Lord’s people are well and working in the Lord’s vineyard.

My family and I are going to move to Chimala, Tanzania, East Africa in July 2012.  I will be taking over as administrator of theChimala Mission  which includes a school of preaching (administered through the Bear Valley Bible Institute: /chimala/), a 120-bed hospital, a primary and secondary school, church planting, Safari for Souls evangelistic campaigns and church leadership development.

My wife is going to home-school the children as well as volunteer at the hospital, as she is a Registered Nurse.  The hospital delivers 2000+ babies each year and also sees malaria and HIV patients.  My children are also excited about helping the youth in local villages come to know about Jesus.  We are committing ourselves to at least three years at Chimala.

As you can imagine, this is a huge undertaking for my family.  In order to prepare for the move, I have resigned my pulpit position at the Gainesville church of Christ, where I have preached for the last nine years, so that I may focus my efforts on fundraising and relocation tasks.  While my wife is working full-time as a RN, we need churches and/or individuals to partner with us so that I may be able to fundraise and prepare for the move.  We are looking for mission partners to help us from now until June 2012.  We need $2,000/month to meet all of our budget needs and fund-raising travel expenses.  You may send any funds to our sponsoring congregation at:

Thank you for your time, prayers, and support.

Nigeria

I will be leaving August 2nd for Nigeria, West Africa to visit ourschool there in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.  We will have our 2nd graduation service for our undergraduate program.  We will graduate 7 men with Bachelor's degrees.  Also, our first group of Master's degree students will graduate at the same time which will make quite an exciting service and time for all concerned.  I know that these men have worked hard to finish the task that was before them and they have endured to the end.  It is not their task to go out into the villages and towns to entrust the word to faithful men who will teach others also.  During my trip, I will also teach two Master's level classes:  "New Testament Theology" and the "Preacher and his Work."

I am also looking forward to seeing again a faithful brother in Christ, Herbert Chukwu.  He has been a tireless worker for the Kingdom in the Enugu area for many years.  He has been working with his local congregation to help them build their building.  Also, they are building some rooms along the side of the property which will be used for community outreach.  I'm looking forward to seeing this first-hand and working again with this brother.    I will return on August 13th.

Gainesville

We are starting our Vacation Bible School this week at the Gainesville church of Christ.  "Believe it or Not. . . It's in the Bible" is our theme for this year.  As always, we are working hard to see that we have a great VBS this year.  This is our last VBS this year and this Sunday will be our last Sunday here at Gainesville.  I've been preaching at Gainesville for 9 years and it's been a good ministry.  The folks at Gainesville have been good to me and my family and it will be hard to leave them.
