International Bible Institute Of Siem Reap
Siem Reap, Cambodia
And He spoke many things to them in parables, saying, ”Behold, the sower went out to sow”...- Matthew 13:3
The Lords church is young, vibrant and thriving in the country of Cambodia today. Thanks largely to a few young men and women who have dedicated their lives to teaching and proclaiming Gods word in a land dominated by Buddhism. Just a few short years ago there was no church in the second largest city of Siem Reap. After contacting the mature young Christians Phanat Ouch and Chann Lork, the elders at the Bear Valley church of Christ had the wisdom to start an extension school.
In 2008 the International Bible Institute of Siem Reap (IBISR) was formed. The school meets in their own building and on their own property. In July of 2010, 7 members from Bear Valley went to witness the first ever graduating class of IBISR. The class consisted of 14 young men and women who studied and completed a challenging 2 year program. Phanat and Chann are the main teachers. The school is blessed by such wonderfully devoted men as Phanat (the director of the school) and Chann (teacher and preacher in Siem Reap). Currently almost every single graduate is involved in spreading Gods word. The next class of students numbers have increased significantly.
Many new churches have been established in the country due to the fine men and women who have gone through IBISR. We have lost track of how many have been baptized and now count Heaven as their home. Cambodia is a country with some of the poorest people on earth. The Christians there are some of the most peaceful and joyful on earth. The school has great goals and shows great promise and faith. History shows us that this is the greatest window of opportunity for Gods church to grow in this fertile soil.
I have met the sowers of the seed in Siem Reap, they are on fire for the Lord.
