Masters in Missions Program

What is Master's in Missions?

The Master's in Missions degree is a master's degree with course work designed in the field of missions. This is a thirty-four (34) credit hour degree.

What is the purpose of this program of study?

The purpose of this degree is in keeping with the Bear Valley Bible Institute theme, "entrusting faithful men who will teach others also" (2 Timothy 2:2). In addition, this program will equip men with an understanding of God's mission for the world. Specifically, the courses will provide a balanced and thorough training in the field of missions.

Men who go through the Master's in Missions program will be equipped to assist in the development of Extension Schools in various places around the world. One of the most effective ways to do missions is through training men within their own country/culture and their own language to teach their own people. Our desire is to have men prepared to assist Bear Valley in the growth and development of this work.

Why is this needed?

The obvious answer is that we need men who desire to do mission work. However, this program is working to take the concept a step further.

The Bear Valley Bible Institute has been involved in Extension Training since 1997. As the program continues to grow, more men will be needed to fill roles within the program. In order to meet this growth, men who are qualified in the field of missions are needed who understand the benefit of training men in their own country/culture and language, to go out and teach their own people.

How long does it take?

The nature of this program is designed for the local minister who has a heart for missions. The curriculum is designed to allow opportunity to study at your own pace, completing the In-Ministry courses and attending one week of Blitz Week courses. Like the MBS and MTS programs, each In-Ministry course has a 90-day time limit and the overall limit for the program is seven (7) years. If the student takes longer than seven years, earlier credits earned will be lost as each course reaches its seven-year limit.

Sixteen hours in the program are designed as In-Ministry courses. The student is required to take the Introduction to Graduate Studies course (Course #500) first in his course of study. Six hours will be required in a Blitz Week format. The program will schedule one week every two years in which Blitz Week courses will be offered. Students can take the In-Ministry courses at any time their schedule allows and work the Blitz Week courses as they are scheduled in Denver. As in the other programs, the student must enroll in the In-Ministry courses individually and tuition is due at the time of the enrollment.
